I assume that, until he has settled in, he will just get minutes from the bench.

After that, I would expect him to play (a) when he deserves to on merit (b) when we have injuries/suspensions or other players suffer a loss of form (c) in matches where his pace will be particularly important and (d) when we need to rest players. The fact that he can play LCB, LB and LWB will obviously improve his chances.

I just hope that the loan agreement doesn’t require us to give him a guaranteed number of minutes, as this could lead to us having to play him on occasions when we would otherwise choose not to.

He does come with glowing reports, so there is a good chance that we will want to give him a fair amount of game time and it is of course possible that he might nail down a starting place. It’s good to have choices.

What happened with him and Rudoni at the end? Thomas looked fuming and both were led off individually by coaching staff.
 
Bobby had a period early on where he cleared the ball about 6times in about two minutes on two consecutively stuff of dreams,an amazing sliding challenge thrown in for good measure!

I think from watching it back, Thomas takes offence to Rudi wearing the snood on his head like a prick and tells him to remove it, and they get a bit aggy.
Can sort of see the perspective that Thomas might think Rudi is being disrespectful or too casual when shaking hands of opponents etc.
might be wrong but i like that from Thomas, set some professional standards

Got a while for that one. Thomas always has a game every few games where he’s all at sea.

He was completely done by Pardo-Fernandes just before his goal line clearance, and that Mix up in the second half

Take nothing else away from him though - he was the reason we didn’t concede 3 in the first half

He didnt get done by him, it was a poor pass from himself that caught him out of position.

Deservedly so. Rudoni had his best game by far at this level but you don’t get to wear a snood on your head because you scored a twice bouncing pen. He needs to wind his neck in a bit for this stuff. Also Fernandez-pardo should have scored a hattrick. If he wasn’t so shit we’d be rating things very differently. Thomas has stepped up to a different level though.

Dunno, Thomas has experience on his side and has shown that his reading of attacking threats is top drawer. In most instances where rushy got beat or went too early, Bobby read the scenario and put himself exactly where he needed to be. Mfuni still is learning that both with us and in England u21.
I think Bobby will see a call up sooner rather than later.

*Just to add, Rushy needs to build the confidence he had last year and get some of those saves we know he can pull out the hat, Pickford was truly shocking in the last england game and can see Trafford taking over very soon, with Pickford and Steele the alternatives.. Rushy needs to get himself to the level where he's part of that conversation once again.

Didn't Lampard make reference to how Bobby has grown as a leader too?

Bobby was outstanding on Monday but I think people are getting slightly ahead of themselves talking about an England call up.
