Transfer Rumour Summer Transfer Window 2026 (17 Viewers)

If we are going on about Pinnock’s experience being worth the value we paid I’d rather us of got Smalling on a free and saved the cash to be used elsewhere
It isn't just about experience.

Their supporters didn't want to see him go. They're the ones that have watched him play. They know he can still do a good job at this level. Some moaned about the length of the contract given to him., but that takes him to the age of Smalling.

Free agents are just that for a reason late in the window. They're either not good enough, want too much money, or even both. I'm happy with this signing.

That’s a bloody joke we paid that much for Cherif when we could have had Franculino for wayyyy cheaper

Could have bought a left back with the change

Yes we would but most likely having sold 6 or 7 to balance the books so a free squad option who has 100 games in England.
We’d also be signing new players - he’s clearly not good enough for us at this point.

Got a feeling the exit door will revolve quite quickly in January. Players who are dropped will get frustrated wanting first team football.

I understand players wanting to experience the PL for a few months and trying to force themselves into the team, but at some point (perhaps Wilson aside) most will want to play matches.

If we are cut adrift I'd be surprised

Could bring in a couple to get them ready for the following season in The Championship. King will probably do nothing though.

Villa didnt do bad after you said they were in a relegation battle
Yes I did say that I saw Villa being in a relegation battle. And guess what. They're below us and we're supposed to be relegation certainties.

They also had home advantage. How well do you think they will do when they go to Arsenal?

Just continue to keep kicking our club. You seem to be enjoying yourself.

I don’t think we’ll sign a free agent either but Martial is available on a free. Still only 30, can play on the left or up front. Linked with a handful of Ligue 1 clubs and Everton, but I think they’ve ruled out any free’s too.

Obviously has been in steady decline for the past few years but could be a short term option

We've submitted our 25 man squad now. Its over.

That Athletic article rating the transfers is a rage bait/click bait piece. Their journalism standards have fallen off a cliff since they were acquired by the New York Times. They used to have a dedicated journo for every Prem club now the vast majority of articles are designed for engagement (like this one) or about one of the top 6 or Wrexham.

Like someone said free agents are that for obvious reasons. The main thing is salary expectations when they are clearly not that good. Doug won't break his ruling on wage structure anyhow

From the comments I've seen I'd say a good chunk recognised that while he was a great servant for the club, his legs had largely gone and he wasn't the player he once was.

In reality it's nuts by the club to give him the length of contract we did given his age.

We've got the experience in which was of course needed, and hopefully he'll be effective off the pitch as well as on it, but for me it's really a case of hold your breath and wait and see how he gets on playing week in week out and whether he can cope with that.

If they have space, I think they can still get free agents?
yeah, free agents can sign any time as long as they became a free agent before the end of the window.

Deary me martial

It’s done now we have to support them !
Everyone supports the team lets be honest, but the forum is for discussion which doesn't always have to be positive. Be a pretty boring place if the forum was just full of people with no actual opinions.
