Transfer Rumour Summer Transfer Window 2026 (13 Viewers)

Woolf had clearly gone above his ability level with the back to back promotions. Pinnock was until last season a regular in an established PL side. So think the comparison is off tbh. Theres fair questions about whether his legs have gone or not but I think that’s different.
Definitely fair questions whether his legs have gone. Spending £5m on a 33 year old who played 4 games is a signing I’d expect Wrexham to make, not a title winning team

Everyone on here was praising Woolf before joining saying he played 20 odd games in the prem season before and was going to have such an amazing impact and was part of a promoted team

I said at the time I didn’t agree and just because he was in a promoted team and played games in the prem doesn’t mean he’s a premier league quality player and would be the equivalent of signing JDS or Eccles just cause he was in a promotion winning team and played games in the prem for us in the year we got promoted and everyone on here was telling me I was mad and a ridiculous take and how class he was going to be
He did his job. We got promoted. If Pinnock plays a similar part in us staying up its a great buy.

Just announce Pinnock and get him in the team for Hull. That experienced head next to Amenda will be invaluable.

to be fair I thought Thomas looked good against Arsenal

He played less as he fell down the pecking order.

I see him doing for our CBs what McF did for Doyle and McNally, or at least hope he does.

He did, I did just think we'd benefit from both the experience and the balance of a LCB allowing Amenda to play his preferred position.

That's on you then as 20m is no longer a massive sum in world football.

Completely agree. Currently I don’t see Cherif and Tchaouma being £20m players and considerably better than what we already have. For £20m I expect them to be light years better than what we have
'currently' after 1 league game for tchaouna and 30 minutes for Cherif! Madness. Proper madness! Biamou Vs Gyokeres vibes all over again

It would also allow you to play a back 3 of Thomas/Pinnock/Amenda which is where I think we’re ultimately headed to shore up the defence later on.

Unless one gets injured then there's not really anyone you'd feel confident playing in the PL.

Less capable defenders will be less exposed in a 3 rather than a 2, I think. The key one to keep fit is Pinnock if he can guide the others through games.

Yeh, imagine if 1 of those 3 gets injured though 😭

Then you’d be starting Kitching with the strict instructions to not AAATB

Can't see us signing a centre midfield, assume Pinnock is done I really think left back and left wing are essential.

Said it before. There is a modern obsession with symmetrical formations. You don't have to play with 2 wingers. Example our cup final team had a RW, Bennett but no LW. Instead Pickering played as LM.
I would like to see 3-5-1-1 with only one winger in the 5. It would also help us include Rudoni or Hamer, who are not LWingers on the left of midfield. Much more flexible than last season.

I dont know why we are still AAATB. I appreciate its the "Style" but there must be times when its ok to GET FUCKING RID
I believe Lampard even said that, or it may have been Grimes saying it about him, i cannot remember. But basically they are not actually overcoached and do have the freedom to do 'the right thing' or what they think is best in a given situation. So it's absolutely on the player when they fuck it.

It still has a lot of disciples who think you’re a caveman hoof merchant if you oppose doing Cruyff turns in your own 6 yard box

Iits player specific though isn’t it …

Kitch and Lati always look uncomfortable on the ball and Amenda and Grimes look totally at ease on the ball.

Da Silva is a liability at the top level and we need a PL quality left back in ASAP as well as a centre forward that can score.

MvE can be just as flappy, hesitant and clumsy on the ball as the rest of them. He’s no more convincing at AAATB.
