Arsenal tickets

I've just discovered we get a bonus 10 points being an evening game for Arsenal. Imagine quite a lot of games will be moved so should stretch our lead over those not going quite comfortably and make it even easier to secure tickets later in the season. Happy days sll round, cheers Doug 👍
Yawn.

I've found you quite funny at times, but you're beginning to punch down.

You're (to my mind) belittling recent fans who are mad keen to see City in the big league.

I've got the points, I've done Preston away on a rainy Tuesday, not everyone has. But I'm not going to take the piss out of a recent convert.

Yes, the sub 1400 club are fucked this season, but we need those fans. Not for this year but for the next five years.

Taking the piss, sitting on your high horse really isn't helpful.

Bore off. I doubt there's a single contributor that actually takes it that seriously and if they do then that's on them. I dont make the rules, I dont stop anyone getting a ticket, merely light hearted nonsense.

Anyhow, to quote Ricky Gervais: "Sometimes you've gotta punch down. Like if you're beating up a disabled toddler..

Don't agree. Mostly same fans go to all away matches. Hardly fair. All season ticket holders who want to go to an away match should be included in a draw. Closed shop should end.

Don't think you've fully thought that statement through...

People claiming they’ve been home and away for years and missing out. If that was the case you’d have 1500+

Exactly. I've had a ST since Brum (H) to keep the club alive, I've since been to as many Away games as possible, but only really been to 90% of away games over last 2/3 seasons as a home game is a 300 mile round trip. I'm on 1580/90 when Arsenal updates.

If I had more money in my pocket, I'd be at every possible game, but I can't always afford to go to every one. I wouldn't expect to be on the same level as those who do 100% of games.

Yes but we are in a different place now.
My own view is the system is unfair.
It's an opinion, that's all.

Basically, your opinion is that the fairweather fans should trump the hardcore fans that supported the club through the less glamorous games, to suit the bandwagon fans who want to visit the Emirates.

Either you're on a windup or you've been following for a year or so.

The same old fans with 1500 plus will get the away tickets without needing to enter the ballot. Their points will continue to increase whilst the majority will fall even further behind.
I think it should be across the board ballot to the ration 1 away ticket in every 3 or 4 game so people have the opportunity to take in away games.

I take it you mean the ‘same old fans’ who have followed the team up and down the country to unfashionable locations when no one else wanted to go?

I’m in this category. And I travel more than most. It’s just not letting enough fans have the opportunity to accumulate points. Hence the gap is going to get wider. I can see people entering the ballot and missing out 9/10 games so may only get to go 2/3 away games. It’s just not fair in my eye.

Fans have had the opportunity to build points over the past 3-4 seasons when plenty of unfashionable games didn’t sell out.

Those on 1500 points plus deserve every opportunity to have their tickets guaranteed

The reason fans have built up the points is because they spend the money accumulating them. If you think myself and many others are going to be happy missing out on 75%of games so some glory hunting big team fan can go instead then you are very much mistaken.

I don’t why you’re bothered. Where were these people who want away tickets now when we were sh*t? You’ve done the hard yards now enjoy it.

Im not sure if it was in the match day thread or a separate thread but this debate, was done when we played Leicester first game of the season a couple of seasons ago.

'Its unfair'
'Its a closed shop'
'There should be a percentage ofctickets put aside for a ballot or general sale'

How many games that season went to general sale or to a relatively low points bracket?

There are a significant number of people who all they want is access to big games and every time they can't get to them the toys are out the pram.

Of course they'll be people who only just miss out who have put in a fair bit of leg work, that's unfortunate, but no system is going to satisfy everyone.

The idea that reducing ticket access for people in the highest points bracket is the way forward really doesnt make sense to me.

Maybe there should be no points for away tickets. The reward is being in the points category to be able to get them. Then gradually the so called closed shop would reset itself. Maybe eventually all tickets are a ballot. I don’t know if I necessarily think this is a good idea.

A glory Hunters charter

So you just want to go to Villa or Man Utd then but should get priority over those that travel to every game 😂
No I've seen us at Villa & Man Utd in the old first division & prem league.
& not fussed if I go back there, particularly Man Utd. You carry on with your 10,000 pt Monopoly.

Same conversations over and over. The ballot system is only actually for a handful of games, Arsenal and Man City away will be near a 100% take up but Forest probably won’t be.

All due respect to anyone just below the 1500, you had since last October 2025 to aggressively build points and there were a lot of games that went well past that.

If you haven’t hit 1,500 points over the last 3 seasons, you simply haven’t put in the hard yards.

To break it down:
23/24-26/26 ST - 880
26/27 Away membership - 50
(Optional) additional membership - 50

Cup games:
23/24 - 160 points
24/25 - 110 points
25/26 - 70 points

No away games, every STH should have in the region of 1,000-1,100 points. That is with no league away games.

My cigarette packet maths has about 880 points to claim over the last 3 seasons away games (4 midweek games per season, 19 weekend games).

The usual games will be oversubscribed but if we’re struggling 100% of the those over 1,500 won’t be buying tickets.

It is demonstrably not a closed shop so your underlying assumption is just wrong. Plenty of away games went right down to general sale and there was plenty of opportunity (and notice) to build their points.

The only people arguing against the loyalty scheme are those who frankly, haven’t done the hard yards but want access to the high value games. Sorry, go and kick rocks.

I guarantee @Skybluecol spreadsheet will show outside the most popular away games, there will be several games where the opens up to 1400+, 1300+ and so on.

"Hard yards, build points ,spreadsheets."
I'm a City fan mate not a trainspotter.
Sure and the loyalty points scheme is the numerical expression of someone’s steadfast support. Some have been more steadfast than others, hence the scheme.

Probably weren't there when we were shit in the PL, shit in Championship, shit in league one, in league two, in league one and then the begining of the championship return.

Probably weren't there when there were only 1.5k of us at home for FA cup ties and JPT games.

Whilst I agree that last season wasn't the definition of a "closed shop", I think we are now in that territory. Plymouth away will be telling.

Or in the 375 v Southampton at Brum or bought season tickets during covid when there were no games etc etc but they want to go to Villa

I was, but Its irrelevant. The points scheme doesnt go that far back.
Plenty of opportunity to build points during one of the most fruitful periods in the clubs history.
If people didnt bother, that's on them.
If people couldn't, that's unfortunate.

Give up your away tickets then.

Yeah, I get all that, but when you've got people telling you, you havent put in the "hard yards" when you have been there through the shortest of times is a kick in the teeth.

I'm in the couldn't bracket due to work and other commitments, the games I could go to, I couldn't get away tickets. I've got 1200 points so I'm hardly sat on my arse.

We also know there were people buying them en mass in their networks to accumulate points then setting them to other people.

I'm lucky, I'm one of the 300 ballot winners.

Plymouth is a bad barometer because any 30 pointer games is going to be snapped up aggressively. A £10-20 ticket will yield the same points as the first 3 league away games (£93).

There were plenty of games that went past 1,500+ and it’s only the big games where the tickets will be snapped up immediately.

People will tread water so to speak, they’ll stay above the threshold but that doesn’t equate to 100% attendance.

Right of the bat, my guess is that the following away games will go into the 2nd/3rd sale windows:
- Forest
- Leeds
- Ipswich
- Sunderland
- Palace (possibly)
- BHA
- Hull

All stadiums we’ve done before and come at period where the PL realities kick in. I would’ve said Fulham as well were it not the last game of the season.

It’s somewhat ironic people arguing it’s a closed shop and then cite examples of past support from decades ago.

3 years is a good period to reset the points to keep things fresh. I and others have laid out that 1500+ was v attainable over the 3 seasons.

Plymouth wont really be a "bad barometer" - I'd argue it's a very good barometer. The shittest of long midweek trips but as you say will be well subscibed because of the points on offer. So what we are saying here, is that people will be buying for points. Which is keeping people with lower points out and not being able to grow their totals.

And the 3 year resets..... they'll come a point in time where everyone will be on very similar points. BUT the people on high points now and able to get tickets will always be ahead by 100-200 points due to the away tickets that only they could get this season. (I dont think many if any away tickets will get past 1400 personally)

I agree that those who have the points NOW deserve the tickets. BUT, the system will have to change or it will be a closed shop should we stay in the PL.

Last paragraph is not true on the scale you say. Sure, there will be a case of mates sorting people out, I asked 2 different mates for Oxford and Wrexham tickets last season - they obliged because they weren’t able to go. After 1700+, you basically don’t need anymore points to go to games you want.

Besides, if what you say is true, most games would’ve sold out at the sale window. It didn’t and a lot of away games went to late sale windows near or actually general sale. We’d also have more than 2.4-2.5k on 1500+.

Truly, it’s unfortunate you couldn’t go but if work was a factor over the last 3 years, is it not still a constraint?

Not necessarily aimed at you, but I’m suspicious of people whose weekends have just freed up from work/other commitments just in time for Premiership football. The cynic in me.

Plymouth in 23/24 or 24/25 was a much better barometer and trust, you see the same faces over and over again.

There’s a certain section of Cov fans who will literally go any place, any time - comfortably 1-1.5k. Plymouth’s allocation: 1.7k.

Plymouth won’t go past 1700+, let alone 1500+ or below. The allocation is so low that the Spartans who go to every game will just get a ticket as usual. A Devon midweek trip is great for OAP.

If we have 3000 tickets available every game what about putting to 1500 points people in a ballot for 1500 tickets, people with 1400-1490 in a ballot for 700 tickets, 1300-1390 for 500 tickets and a ballot for everyone else after that for the remaining

You see, I was at Plymouth in 24/25. But I had to buy the tickets from someone who wasn't going.

One suspects you’re not a chosen one (1500+).

If your ‘fairer’ system invariably leads to people on 1700-2000+ miss out on tickets and people on 700+ get a ticket in a ballot, it’s a stupid system. The point of a loyalty scheme is to give your best customers privileges.

The system isn’t designed to be ‘fair’ per se, it’s designed to optimise loyalty expressed through ticket sales. Why else would they charge £18 for a friendly and give you points?

1500+ is large enough that captures a significant portion of the most loyal fans of recent years. The only way to make the ballot ‘fairer’ is extend to 20% allocation and tier the ballot as they do with the ETSC and other bigger clubs.

I'm 10 points behind you, I've never been a fan of the points system and have always felt the fairest way was putting the tickets on sale to all season ticket holders, if you miss out in that scenario you have at least had a chance, the points system was always going to end up here (that's not a complaint but an observation), those who have the points have undeniably earned them, whether by the good fortune to have the time and finances to do so or by organising their leave days and scraping the money together, it is, as they say, what it is. I'm now in a ballot like most and will hopefully win a couple of times, other than that it's the tv
Edit - Does anybody remember queuing in all weathers for cup tickets, them were the days.
