I'm not nervous at all

Which is kinda making me nervous

A draw not end of world so maybe that's why I'm not worried
Yeah, same with me

I see that a draw would give us one more point towards our objective.

Whatever it takes to get there and as we have never won 7 games in a row, that plays on your mind too.

We won't just keep on winning. We will drop points at some point. Lampard knows that himself.

I could see Southampton winning this one, so a draw would be just fine.

Only needs a deflection, dodgy penalty, defensive mistake or mix up.

It's acan often be such small margins

We've only ever beat Preston 5 times in the league. 2 of them wins have been in the last 2 seasons. Under Lampard we have broken a few records. This would be yet another one.

All we have to do is continue with our home form. They will be more worried about playing us than we are them.

What is it with you? On Wednesday you were nervous today the same.Just sit down take a chill pill, go on "Championship table fishy"sit and look at our home record 14 3 1 for half an hour. Then go and change your sheets you'll feel much better

Get a grip you lot, it’s only Southampton. They’re not even in the top six. I bet a lot of of these worriers would be scared of Sheffield Wednesday too.
Until the sending off we were dominating them at their place.
The only times we’ve come unstuck common was when we’ve given teams too much respect, like against Ipswich, when our smaller squad was ravaged by illness.
There is a reason that we are top and you will see it today.
5-0. Haji becomes top scorer and yet another clean sheet for Rushworth.
We’re not called the mighty sky blues for nothing.

Often misunderstood. It is better applied to stable means (toss of a coin, roll of a dice) rather than probability of winning football matches which is affected by which players play etc.

It simply states that if you have out/underperformed the mean in the short term, over time your short term mean will move back to the long term mean.

It does not say that the previous short terms sequence of events affects the next event

In City’s case: if we assume our (ahem) long-term mean wins is 6 out of 10 (or 0.6, ie close to this season), but short term mean is 6 out of 6, then although the chance of us winning the next game is unchanged (6/10), our average will move back to the mean:

Short term run: 6 games, 6 wins: Short team mean is 1
Next 10 games, 6 wins (ie no change to probability of winning any single game), total run is now 12 wins out of 16 games: Short term mean is now down to 0.73 ie it has reverted to mean despite no change in the probability of us winning any single game.

The belief that the short term run of events affects the probability of the next event is called Gambler’s Fallacy and has lost a lot of people a lot of money!!!

Yeah I clarified a bit that I was being facetious and not actually saying it was a statistical likelihood .

It absolutely is true. For footballing not statistical reasons though tbf. Players become over confident, opposition sets up more defensively.

Also if you think our streak matters then so does their unbeaten streak.

Feel just fine and am relaxed about today's game too.

🤷🏻‍♂️

I can be a City fan and a realist too. I'm sure that's allowed. 😂

I am chilled about today's game, but think it will end as a draw.

I reckon Eccles and Wright come back in for Simms and BTA, Lati onto the bench, I think we’ll need a stronger control of the midfield hence the BTA back to the bench, but its definitely harsh in him after a good performance Weds night.

I think we’ll start well nick an early goal and they’ll come out at us and it’ll go 1 of 2 ways:
1. Tight scrappy game that ends 1-1 or 2-1
2. We hammer them by exploiting the space

10 draws would likely see us promoted!

Mildy confident of a win today. We were the better team at their place until the sending off.

Would keep Kitching in alongside Woolfenden, Eccles in for BTA and Wright back instead of Simms.

I thought Preston was more of a banana skin.

I was convinced they would defend really deep and make it hard for us to break them down.

Completely different to Southampton, who I feel will play a much more open game.

We got frustrated against Oxford and I could foresee that maybe something similar might happen against Preston. I still can't fathom what Preston set out to do though. Seemingly just keep hitting the ball long. Their game was all over the place and they were very poor.

Different game today and different tactics.

I am thinking this might well be more end to end.

We can definitely win for sure. I think the never having won 7 in a row is lodged in my brain though and we won't just keep winning until the end of the season, or indeed play well every single game.

As long as we don't lose, I think I am going to really enjoy this game today.

I really don’t want to have to leave early. Especially if it’s tense.

Obviously the roads are closed from a certain time. If I was to stay until nearer the end / the actual end - where is the best / easiest / most viable place I could get an uber from?

Controversial last minute winner, bench emptying brawl in front of the away end, £50k fine, Doug sends Sky Blue Sam to the EFL offices with £60k cash in a suitcase and tells them to keep the change.

Saints miss playoffs by two points and go into administration as they can't pay their legal fees.
