Awesome. I fucking love summer.
I think it is in Wasps interest to have a 'okay' relationship with CCFC initially but lets face it as soon as their fan base grows we will be disposable. Of course as you quite rightly state we don't know what our wonderful owners will do, chances are they will shoot themselves in the foot by trying to play hardball again with no bargaining power.
Julian ? When did that happen . Fucking SISU selling players from under our noses
CSB fuck right off I asked a question not make a statement. how do you know what type of pitch it will be???? thought this was a forum to discuss stuff not to belittle other fans.
The Ricoh pitch was partly synthetic already I believe, it just got so bad because it wasn't looked after properly/had the necessary maintenance to it.
to be fair, we are pretty used to things getting bad because they werent looked after properly
Yes the season ccfc looked after it they would not pay for grass seed so they had to put sand down. The Ricoh pitch was partly synthetic already I believe, it just got so bad because it wasn't looked after properly/had the necessary maintenance to it.
I thought they did,at Northampton, but i could be wrong. Why would they pay towards the pitch? They rent it?
Will they be able to create a fan base though, I've seen number of 15k mentioned and as high as 25k. Look at MK Dons. Biggish location, had no sports teams in the area I think and have been in existence for over 10 years and get around 7k and thats with no competing sport teams. Any sport fans in Coventry or the local area already have an affiliation to a local club, that's what I'm hoping anyway.
Million dollar question isnt it? One thing i have learnt from Coventry fanbase is that they crave success and this could be key to Wasps taking supporters. We have poor teams in football and Rugby so heads maybe turned for a bigger, more successful club. People dont mind paying good money if they see quality on the pitch, this is one reason why we are losing people at CCFC. Time will tell i guess
I think time will tell.
They are nothing more than mid table respectability at the moment, no chance of going down as there is one relegation place and usually one very poor team to fill it, whilst not troubling the top four or five. Their success last season was qualifying for Europe through a play off.
If this is the case, it will not be a case of success for a number of years, until they make some profit from the stadium, and I personallyy think their attendances at this point will be like they are at Wycombe, and they will be extremely disspaointed. It could end up in a never ending circle of continued non sucess and dwindling crowds from a Coventry fan base little interested in a team that isnt from its home city. I may be wrong of course, but I see troubles waters ahead.
I think you underestimate the number of people in Coventry who can't wait to get their hands on a shiny new plastic Wasps shirt, who could never be arsed to watch their own city's rugby club because 'they're shit'.

The thing about the Elite Rugby scene is that the fan base is less partisan than in football. I would never ever be seen anywhere near Vile Park, or that place in Fester. Rugby fans tend to want to watch a classy game and whilst they do have 'My team' they also will go to watch a potentially big game if they have the time to do so. Wasps have been shrewd to nominate Sunday as the day of the game, when there is not a whole raft of other things to attract people. Coventry has a lot of potential, not just from the City of Cov, but from all the surrounding areas. This is a big Rugby area so I wouldn't be surprised by gates of 10 -12 k on a regular basis, and for really big games they could easily sell out.
Luckily I havent met one yet!
I think they will be dissapointed in their new interest.

Good on them in my opinion. I doubt very much that anyone from Joy's ivory tower shall be making a contribution however!
Not a cat in hells chance of 10-12K, after the initial free ticket games etc.
give it a month they will be down to 4-5K like they are at Adams park with the two games against Leicester and Northampton pulling in decent away support , probably taking it up to 9K at most.
I hope they gte 1-2K crowds and implode within two years, and the club and its patronising chairman never to be seen again
Their budgets expected an average gate over a season of 20,000

If true, every more reason to boycott wasps games.

why boycott?
So they go back to the M25 with their tail between their legs, and ccfc buy ACL off them (best case scenario). Or they struggle need to raise cash and sell at least 50% of ACL to the ccfc (worst case scenario)
Why go? They don't belong here, we have no affinity with them, the it's already a professional rugby club in the city, why bandwagon jump on a new club?
I won't be attending a single game of theirs.

Where did you get that info? Any source available?
Coventry Rugby are not full time proffesionals, but the way they are playing they should be, 8 wins on the trot.
