Saw the new Resident Evil movie at the cinema today. Well made short horror movie with plenty of funny moments as well as jump scares

The latest series of Mobland is really good even the OTT performances of Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren , and the new bad guy is is a great addition

East of Eden - Netflix.

Being honest, I didn`t think I`d enjoy this, but it`s a brilliant piece of tv.

The first couple of episodes are really slow, but all they`re doing is laying the foundations for the rest of the series.

Beautifully filmed, panoramic and atmospheric.

Florence Pugh, yet again proves what a fine actress she is, with an award winning performance as Cathy, the sociopathic femme fatale.

Every now and again, Netflix pull one out of the bag and this is one of them.

A shoe in for awards, as is Pugh.

Jimmy McGovern`s latest iteration of the prison drama - Time ( BBC1 ) has proved to be a very tough watch, but a superbly written drama, with some real gems unearthed amongst the pool of young lads playing the part of the inmates in the young offenders institute where it`s based.

Any music fans I’d say Epic : Elvis in concert on Netflix is well worth a watch. part concert but also focussed on his life, build up, rehearsals etc. whether you’re a massive fan of his music or not, great documentary.

Ryan Coogler's "The X-Files" reboot has officially been ordered to series at Hulu.

Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel star

Coogler wrote and directed the pilot and will serve as executive producer along with showrunner Jennifer Yale.
Love the X-Files, not entirely sure how I feel about a reboot.

I could see them doing a reboot quite easily, as the premise is quite simple to replicate, but I can`t really see how they can replace David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson tbh.

Their relationship and the dynamics of it, where a big part of what made it so watchable and for the life of me, I can`t think of anyone else who could play Mulder and Scully ( unless they both reprised their roles in the reboot )

Exactly this. They could easily make a similar show without tying it in to the brand.

To further complicate things Chris Carter is talking about making another series or movie with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

If it's not been mentioned, Slow Horses is very good.
But daft as a brush.

It's insanely nonsensical. 😂 And deadly, creme de la creme assassins, who kill people with ease and razor sharp accuracy, suddenly become the worst assassins on earth. 😂

My partner and I are just constantly laughing at the ridiculousness of it all and how people suddenly can't shoot straight and others escape easily out of a heavily guarded military airfield without a scratch

We do really like it though. Definitely become more of a comedy than a thriller these days

They`ve gone in a bit of a different direction to the books, as the books aren`t as daft.

The tv series is great fun though and no one could play Jackson Lamb like Gary Oldman does.

Watched this over the weekend , David Tennent was very good I thought and the young lad in the first episode {ushindi} very good

Watched the last episode last night and I was thinking the exact same thing about David Tennent.

Some really good young up and coming actors in it - the lad who played Ushindi being one, the Irish lad was excellent ( but he`s been in quite a lot of stuff when you look online ) and the lad who played Peter were all standout for me.

One of the boxer, Paul Smith`s, sons played the little dark haired scouse lad, who was very very angry indeed.

Jimmy McGovern excells at this type of drama.

Was hoping to see that young angry lad get a slap ,

Below - Netflix.

Surprisingly good and gloriously daft, with comparisons to Widows Bay.

Set in a remote Newfoundland fishing village, a giant squid is terrorising the community, however all is not as it seems.

A really good cast, inc Josh Hartnett and Mackenzie Davis, play this just right.

Proper tongue in cheek black humour and really well written, with some dark stuff woven into the narrative along the way.

It’s one of those that shouldn’t work, but really does.

Great fun.

I couldn’t really get into it. Potentially it was very good but to me ended up like Fortitude - a mess

It's been good but my problem is the last series was probably my favourite ever, the interaction between the 5 contestants and Greg & Alex was fantastic. I didn't have good hopes for it as well as there were a couple on it who I didn't know but they were all brilliant.
Taskmaster has been good, Chole Petts has been good value on it

Lanterns ( HBO )

Good, but could`ve been better, felt like it was missing something.

Great cast, inc Kyle Chandler as the Green Lantern and Kelly McDonald, as the small town sheriff.

It could`ve done with being a bit darker and spent more time on the character development of the baddies.

Yeah. I could only watch an episode and a half.

All very fine, but nothing outstanding about it

Could have done with the depth of Wonder Man.

New series/Halloween special of Last One Laughing on Amazon. I liked the first series, but I think the premise is getting a bit tired now and it's not as funny.

Reece Shearsmith has been good in it though.

He has. Loved the Steve Pemberton surprise entrance too.

I have missed Pauline

Went to see Wildwood last night on the basis that it’s by the same people as Coraline, which is my daughter’s favourite film.

I knew nothing about it other than my daughter telling me its ratings on IMDb - 8.9/10.
Well…it’s a cartoon and I think one for the kids rather than a 49 year old father of 2. My daughter, who’s in her 20s also was underwhelmed.
I say it’s “one for the kids” but actually there’s quite a bit of killing in it now I think about it.
Just a bit overblown.

As an aside, I’ve noticed that I often appear to be the oldest person in the cinema, regardless of the film we go to see.
