A few shades of last season with the dominance, yet having a soft underbelly for sides who are very clinical to score from just a couple of shots on target.

Hellberg has to take a little of the blame for not getting all 3 points due to starting with a weakened line-up, though given how much we've been battered by injuries the last few seasons, it's understandable perhaps how he's putting more emphasis on giving players "rested games."

Hey ho, you can't win em all.
Why was Lankshear on the bench, was he carrying an injury? Have Spurs got a recall option on him in January, as they might fancy giving him a go in the PL.

Lankshear was not loaned to Middlesbrough, they bought him. Deal potentially reaching £20 million with add-ons, apparently.

But we've just had 3weeks off, tell you what, this prem lark is easy on the muscle load.
Had quite a few of our lot in the internationals at senior and under 21 level as we have quite a young side. Plus given the fact that 5 of our squad play on other continents it's a ballache for travelling.

Also it's been a 3 game week for us🤣

Whilst I missed the amount of football when we were last in the Prem, the amount of injuries reduced is certainly a good thing.👍

And plenty of Spurs fans are up in arms about him being sold, given their paucity up front.

4th Rd Qualifying FA Cup
Team called Tadley Calleva have made it !
Magic of the Cup
Not heard of Tadley or Calleva...nickname the Romans. Play Aldershot away.

Not to my knowledge, no.

Add-ons yes, which will raise the 10M initial fee to 20M if they're all hit. But no buy back.
I’m guessing it similar to our Simms deal, we had to pay 8.5m, in pretty sure we had a big chunk upon promotion, so all in all it’s been worth it. Same for you I’d imagine with Lankshear - if you pay 20m for him, it’s a drop in the ocean to what you’d have earned

Tadley Calleva ( Romans) got a 2-2 at Aldershot.
In draw for 1st Rd Proper.
Leicester City next ?

Like last season there’s still plenty of time for them to bottle it!
It would be silly imo to say a manager that finishes potentially top 6 two years in a row is shit even if they failed to get promoted each seaosn .

The truth is people took a dislike to him because they were rivalling cov last year. It was personal and not based on his managerial ability.

I think that's probably it.

I don't think many on here dislike him personally, he's a humble guy and a football nerd more than anything, which translates pretty well.
And his style of football can be awesome to watch.

It was just one of those rivalries for promotion for a season so there was obviously going to be some banter, but it didn't develop into anything like a grievance, like the whole Jimmy Hill episode..I think some saw the interest in his entertaining style as taking away from Lampard's achievement, though that was never going to be the case.

Obviously I'd have loved to have had a Lankshear last season and questions obviously got asked about how we didn't invest in one in Jan which (especially when Hackeny, Conway & at times McGree - our best 3 at working the ball forward - got injired and our form dropped in the last 10 games) but que sera sera.

We'll need him in this one though; last season there was only yourselves to be concerned about before that point, this season the team that finishes 2nd (and 3rd IMHO) will smash through Ipswich's 84 points haul from 25/26.

As for last night, I had no fears about Bolton despite them being in decent form of late, because, well, Hoodoo.... our last 9 league games against them have been WWWWWWWWW which even dwarfs your jinx over us it's that good!

In a twist though I'd have actually gave Bazunu, the Bolton keeper, MOTM as he was in the form of his life and was like a wall against us getting more.

I wonder if you’ll come in for Simms? He’s near the end of his contract and even a loan could prove well worth the money. I know his goals against you have impressed Some Boro supporters.

Last season it was Bamford that would have made a difference to both of our clubs.

What difference would Bamford have made for us?

Kind of hope Boro do keep it up as Birmingham Shitty are doing much better this season and I cannot be having those chimney worshippers getting promoted.

As well as Brum being better, West Ham are arguably the best stocked side to come down in a few seasons (certainly better than Ipswich 25/26) Wolves for all their not quite tearing the league up start definitely outclass Leicester or Blades and we're wary of SpyHampton lurking ominously in the background...Granted they have a 4 point deduction, but that's probably less of a handicap than a floundering Will Still being in charge for a 3rd of the season.

Then there's surprise package Swansea, which a lot of Boro fans liken to us last season. I'd be happy if we were this year's version of yourselves, essentially a playoff side beforehand who pushed hard, recruited well in January too, and it clicked into gear excellently to make it your year.

I think we'd need somewhere around your points total last season to nail the autos at all this season unfortunately, but as it stands we're tracking for 96 points, so so far so good at least.

I’ve never said he’s shit but I think he’s overrated and in the end took them backwards last season.

Then there’s the whole hellball thing when there were better managers who didn’t get a label for their football and massively overachieved.

He got the tag because his team played a distinct brand of football. Not many coaches manage that. Pep ball sarri ball klopp ball. No one says Jose ball but doesn't mean they think mourinho a bad manager. No one says ancellotti ball but doesn't mean he's not rated as one of the best.

Also you are basically saying if a manager takes sa team 10 steps forward and 2 back that they are failure for the 2 back

I don't think like that. I focus on the 8 forward overall

I’m pretty sure they were challenging for top 2 when he took over and they then collapsed and ended up being humiliated with the play-off situation.

Let’s see where they are at the end of the season before labelling him a tactical genius.

I haven't said that? Why do you always do this sick boy? You did it with "Enzo" too

As soon as I refuse to join the pile on a manger you said that I love them and think they genius etc

Hellberh is clearly a good manager. It's not a crazy opinion to have.

Watched Boro last night very impressed and once they went 2-1 there was only one winner. They had 31 shots 40 touches in the box. Those are great figures away from home They overwhelmed them would be a fool to bet against them in that form. I see they are 3-1 for the title. If I bet i'd have a bit of that.

they were doing that last season and then fell away massively, they'll make play offs but can they hold on to a top 2 stop when say wolves and werst ham finally click fully? be very hard to do so

I would have thought him consistently dominating games for 2 seasons now might have made you chill a bit on the overrated tag? Only promotion will make you think he's not an overrated manager?

As David has just said he doesn't have the best squad so bit harsh to say promotion or failure for him as a manager

What i've seen of Wolves and West Ham this season i think Boro are better and Lankshear is going to get a load of goals in the form he's in. He seems to read the game so well right place rice time nothing flashy
