Championship Thread 26/27 (6 Viewers)

One thing ive thought is - thank fuck we got out last year. With the new play off system the Championship looks even more brutal this season.

Will be interested to see If Disney and the US have the appetite for Wrexham if they get bogged down in the Championship, It becomes a slog when you're there for too long.

Middlesbrough looking good though now they have a striker. I've looked at Swansea's fixtures and they've had a reasonably kind start

The average position of Swansea's opponents thus fsr is 16.5. The run of fixtures coming up will tell us more about them, though to give them fair crack they managed to get through a fairly even game with Millwall with a win last night, even if The Wall have their as often injury crisis, they're still a tough side to play against.

Swansea have West Ham, QPR, Brum and us in their next 7.

Thats when we'll see what Swansea is about. Millwall have been odd this season they seem to win a couple then lose a couple - as is with the Championship. I still think West Ham win the league, they seem to start every game 25 minutes in.

Wolves are an odd one aswell. Seems really open this season. Just really horrible.

I think the Hammers will win the league too, it's hard to look past them.
Looking at it objectively, I think they'll probably be in a mix of 4 or 5 sides changing places with the autos until near christmas, then open up a bit of a gap at the top.

With the new playoff format though if we don't get autos it's imperative IMHO that we finish 3rd or 4th. 5th and 6th have a bigger disadvantage this season, whereas for 3rd and 4th the picture isn't affected much.

Boos at Wrexham last night after losing to West Brom. Nauseating entitlement, but I’m sure people will still push their ‘likeable aura’.
Many of their fans are super pi$$ed off at the Sheaf signing and already questioning purchase of O'Hare after a handful of games despite being their most creative player with Windass injured. Parkinson is getting pelters.
The youngish WBA right winger Isaac Price looks good at that level.

You’re right, but points count no matter where they come from.

This could be your year. Hope so anyway. But it has to be top 2 for obvious reasons.

Price is a luxury player, He's one of those who's good when they're playing well. disapears often. my in laws are west brom fans so i've seen a fair bit of him.

Didn't he start really well scoring plenty of goals at the start of last season & then the goals dried up considerably after Christmas?

You need to do your round trip to League Two first.

Our clubs will have been on pretty different journeys to get there, but I fancy Boro to make it up this year.

You have a proper striker, which will help.
awful defence though

It's a decent defence when Malanda and Phillips start in their correct positions, who are our first choice CBs. Jones is decent when firing on all cylinders, the problem being that we've only played him thus far coming back from injury (due to other injuries) then he got injured again.

The less said about Ayling as a starter the better. The main issue is that he's played far too many games this season owing to others missing. Usually half our conceded goals are a result of sides exploiting him.

In addition to this the way we play against the many sides low-blocking, whereas it was a problem last season when they figured it out to stop our flowing game, is to absolutely overload their final third with bodies, committing virtually every single midfielder and at least one of the full backs forward to smash a way through it with numbers.

Which works very well, we haven't failed to score in any of the 10 league games this season, thereby rendering the low block that cursed us towards the end of last season no longer a problem.

However it does make us more susceptible to quick breakaways obviously, due to the acres of space left to exploit behind the swarm up front.

okay buddy, if anyone actually listen to you they'd think you were fucking Sacchi's Milan or something and not the out in the first round of the play off merchants you really are.

What's that got to do with our playing style now though? Nothing.

Also remember where you came from. Both our clubs have been in worse places than the champo playoffs.

And to the surprise of no-one, Wilder thinks it's all the referee's fault.

Also probably surprising no-one, Choudhury is an idiot.

It’s a cheap second one but had no intention of playing the ball and stopped then attacker from a promising attack
No way the ref gets any heat for that

Burnley losing, now booing 😂
Burnley have been a rotten watch at every level for years and years. Their yo-yoing was pissing me off, I'm glad the string is finally snapping.

That that is the issue with refs today.

Absolutely no comeback apart from 1 week in a lower league for being shite,

Boro bottling top spot already

Be very surprised if they don’t win now. They’re all over Cardiff.

In fairness, they had the better of the ball amd chances in the first half yet still went in 2-0 down. Been much improved second half though.

A few shades of last season with the dominance, yet having a soft underbelly for sides who are very clinical to score from just a couple of shots on target.

Hellberg has to take a little of the blame for not getting all 3 points due to starting with a weakened line-up, though given how much we've been battered by injuries the last few seasons, it's understandable perhaps how he's putting more emphasis on giving players "rested games."

Hey ho, you can't win em all.
