Well PIP is non taxable and doesn’t form part of anyone’s taxable income
And I've said before I think this isn't right. IMO any money anyone receives should be counted towards their taxable income.

Forgive my ignorance but what’s PIP?

In my world that’s a performance improvement plan.

Personal Independence Pay. Disabled money basically.

Its not taxed. Its also not earning effected unlike UC. So it doesnt matter how much you earn, you can still get PIP

Finally got round to watching it, and if you park the deliberate sensationalism it is fucking insane the level of regulation that is encountered across a plethora of areas.
Until there's an outbreak where animals and crops are dying and then it's 'oh, that's why it's so heavily regulated'

Not just that though. The planning process is shown up to be ridiculous (which I knew already, but hey).

If you park the tax complaint - Clarkson has done more for British farming in the last five seasons than any government department- he has brought the absurdness of the regulations to the British public , he has been open about the profitability of mixed farming and showed he has a human side when it comes to his animals - the pub employs 148 people and I still can’t get a reservation - we have eaten in the garden and the food was good With humour and a cast of normal people he has brought with all of this some hilarious moments 👍 he is also very clear he has another source of income that props up some of his philosophy of only using Local products - I would like to meet him a shake his hand - I have met Gerald and Harriet who were just nice people !

Some just can't abide the success and associated wealth of others.
I can't fault Clarkson. All round regular bloke who has led one heck of a life. He's even a proper football fan. Chelsea I think ?

I’m sure there’s some of that but he certainly initially bought a farm to avoid tax much like Mr Lowe

Which he admits, said several times on his show and at his Stoneleigh Farm Fest when addressing the crowd come to see the bands that were on. However he was very clear he can get round all that by putting property in a trust but a small farmer getting on a bit is the one who is most badly effected.

Farm inheritance tax is a terrible policy, it will lead to big corporations buying land, using it for reasons other than farming and drive many independants out of business.

A reasonable response & you are likely correct.
I don't know. To that I would say the sort of levels of tax these guys are faced with I can understand that they may wish to explore other legal avenues.

The answer, for me at least, is deferred IHT. They shouldn’t be exempted again as that’s what has driven the behaviour of very rich people buying farmland to avoid IHT, in turn inflating land prices. 40% charge deferred for 10-20 years and if the farm remains working under the same ownership (or family ownership of some description) then the IHT bill is waived.

Whereas Clarkson's background is...
True - But he does at least have some people around him who know what it’s all about - the latest application for support was on a timed availability - website crashed just hours in and left people in the lurch - just no planning - I wonder how many farmers will apply what sort of capacity will We need - mmmm well let’s ask the NFU Simple’s - these idiots haven’t a clue 👍

Which he openly admits. And is also very open that because of the wealth he has, the farmers inheritance tax wont overly effect him as he can move cash around and still avoid it. However, he is highlighting the real farmers, who have passed down farms for generations through families that are scraping by as it is, will be the ones that will be effected. Not the wealthy tax dodgers like Lowe and Clarkson etc.

It's only farms over a certain size that are affected however.

Balderdash, very few farms will be uneffected. A small 150 acre farm with 100 head of cattle and additional equipment assets in Warwickshire might easily be valued at £2m.

Anything Rachel Thieves said is not to be believed at face value.
