Looks like the club are trying to get that, I just assumed it was included

CBS Arena car park plan could provide £1.6m for sport and culture in Coventry

Wonder if the plan is for us to revive wasp’s hotel plan for the spot. Especially since we trying to get more bookings at the cbs.

Good deal and nice to see it going to sky blues in the community

Slightly off topic, seen a post on X about the land adjacent to the railway tracks and curry’s.

Not sure if I’m going mad but I’m sure I remember seeing title plans of the CBS around the time we bought it and it included said land on the plans. Anyone else know or remember seeing this?

I believe that Doug is also looking at buying the Tom White Scrap Yard because he believes that it gives a really bad impression for spectators going to the CBS especially now that we are in the Premier League. If we owned all of the land around there it could be a real goldmine.

Really? I doubt it, the ground is full so who cares if there is an unsightly scrap yard across the road?

What’s wrong with the sky dome?
I assume / hope it was a joke but something is up at the SkyDome. The only things left in the main building are the casino, gym and cinema. Casino is closing, gym is moving to Central Six and there seems to be no sign of any work being done at the cinema as part of the Odeons refurb program.

There's also, hopefully false, rumours the car park is closing.

Planet Ice, who operate the rink, have a reputation for doing minimal maintenance and then walking away if someone else, ie the local council, won't foot the bill for a refurb. The rink is now over 25 years old and not in a great state.

I don't think the owners of the SkyDome are actively marketing any of the vacant units either are they? Wouldn't be surprised if it is demolished tbqh

That's the weird part of it. They seemed to have pushed out the existing occupants and are making zero attempt to replace them.

Is that bit of land really that desirable? We seem to have reached saturation point with student accommodation with some blocks now having to be repurposed as they can't be filled. Not sure its the best location for housing, and if its going to be retail just use what you already have.

The council should be on the ball here and finding out what is going on, have to hope that's happening behind the scenes but fear that won't be the case.

hope it dont fuck my parking up as i rely on it to get to the ground with out it fucking my back up.

I've heard that as well, so much potential there.

I heard he’s trying to compete with the NEC. Wonder if it’s more to do with that side of it than the football side if there’s truth to it

Didnt loads of exhibition space get found down by the casino thats never used? Probably need to make sure everything that's there is being used to capacity first.

Now on the bbc site, but bbc says it a land purchase and not a lease

The recommendation in the report going to Cabinet on 13th October is for a lease. The report can be viewed from page 10 onwards on the following link -

I think King will look at developing the site, I also heard about the land next to Currys and the station from someone who works there
Made a post a bit further up but I’m sure this is already on the title deeds for the CBS. I’m adamant I have seen the title plans.

I thought they were the Solihull blaze before us. Isn’t the Solihull rink still open?
You can trace back decades but history in ice hockey is a tricky thing as you often, as has happened here, see clubs disappear and re-appear with the same name.

You've also got entire leagues going out of existence and new leagues taking their place.

Essentially you've got a sport where clubs don't own their facilities so as the facilities close or fall into disrepair the clubs cease to exist or move. Hence Birmingham Barons became Solihull Barons before becoming Solihull Blaze then Coventry Blaze. While in parallel there's been multiple incarnations of Solihull Barons and even a Solihull Milton Keynes Barons not to mention Telford Tigers originally being conceived as part of the Solihull Barons organisation.

Was also a spell where Milton Keynes Lightening shared the Skydome with Blaze.

There's an underground level which a lot of people didn't seem to realise existed until it was mentioned in a club article. Think there's also a chunk of the casino that isn't in use.
