Forest fans on X

Delap should have really had 2 yellows anyway.
That push on Thomas was crazy. Dickhead.
Whatever Thomas was saying or doing to him clearly worked. By the end he was just shooting from anywhere. Lost it.

When he backed into him, and sent Thomas flying, I was worried about how easy he had made it look; that he was going to be too strong.
Loved that Bobby was straight back at him in the next challenge.
Great performance all round. He's a prem player now.

I can't remember this clip now but hes deleted it probably because the rawnesw of the result has worn off and realised he was making a huge tit of himself by doubling down on a universally agreed correct decision

Forest fans have taken this very badly. Quite funny really. I assume that big sack of Greek Yogurt didn't get his bribe in to the VAR officials quickly enough.

I don't get it, I really don't. In the ground I thought it looked a little soft, but I was almost the full length of the pitch away.

Watching it back, it's an obvious foul. I get it looked strange, because he was trying to stay on his feet and that resulted in him almost falling down in stages but you can't penalise a player for trying to be honest and stay up albeit off balance.

Wonder if Lampard will even say to him, next time, just go down holding your foot and you will get the decision on field.

I have sympathy with the Forest fans personally. It's definitely not a foul on the clips they've posted that conveniently start after the obvious foul
To be honest I think our fans would be the same.

if the foul on the other way round they’d call it a foul

Thought it was a dithering calamity on real time view. Only from the slow-mo and still from a different angle was it a clear tread on the foot. I am not a fan of VAR at all but whilst it is there nobody should complain when it is used appropriately. The contact (foul) by the Forest player directly led to the goal.

If they don't give it, it just proves to players they should dive to the floor to get a decision. I think we're starting to learn a thing or two, our players have started going down over nothing tackles now.

Not just now…Lati did it in about every championship game he played in

The "neutral" commentators on m.o.d said the V.A.R decision was correct.
End of argument really, anything else is just sour grapes.

But by the same definition we should also accept it when the decision goes against us, which im sure it will at some point.

It's a foul. It's the correct decision under the rules. yirenki does that to Jesus (roles reversed) it's a penalty.

As they said in MotD… that’s what’s VAR is for .. clear and obvious mistakes … Notts fans looked thoroughly depressed throughout …I don’t get the Delap signing at all and looks like neither do they…

They think the ref is shit
They should have had a penalty
Fans accused of bedwetting
Sack Glasner now

I’m glad our fanbase is so different

Yeah lati is awful for it. Literally looks around panicked as he knows hes got the pace of a slug and then just runs into the strikers way and falls over holding the ball.

I hate that red fall for it

Refs and linos just had to stop blowing like yesterday with Gabriel. They'll soon stop doing it

It's a very obvious foul & 100% the correct decision.

I think Forest fans are irrationally arguing about it as they feel there's been a number of other decisions go against them recently.

That said, does make a mockery of the old "we just want consistency" line fans trot out. Absolute nonsense, they want all the decisions in their favour.

fans always so. I did think they were especially racked off due to the penalty claim which we’d have wanted if it had been the other way round

There's always a higher bar for awarding penalties & VAR will never get involved in something like that.

Whilst soft, it was a daft 'challenge' to make though & had the referee given it on the field, we could have had few complaints.

I don't remember the penalty shout. When was that?

We are in the Premier League now, these are the rules
Gentle touch. Free kick
Gentle touch 4 rolls. Free kick and a booking
Gentle touch 4 rolls, scream and hold your head. Sending off.

Obviously these rules do not apply if a Coventry player is touched.

This is rule 52/10 of the official Referees Premier League Handbook.

Don’t blame the messenger.

It is a foul ffs. Yirenkis heel gets trod on FIRST, which starts his stumble, he then looks to collide with Mfuni (which I didn’t know until I saw the clip above from a forest fan) but this was AFTER his heel was clipped.

It’s a foul all day long and they are being salty about it

The one on Delap? Thought that was a foul, but outside the box.

No the push by Yirenkyi which was a push whichever way you look at it. Refs tend not to give them in the penalty area but we’d have reacted the same way they did

Bloke is a media creation in essence when does he ever smile!🤔

Basically everyone that tweets is a moron. I cringe at the shit our fans come out with on there.

Yirenkyi did the right thing in trying to deal with it still, Mfuni tripping him is just incidental. Foul all day long. You can see as Igor Jesus stepped on him he hurt him. Just fortunate it wasn’t a championship game. Tough tit on them.

Their fans and football fans in general need reminding, accident doesn’t not make it a foul.

There wasn't enough in it for a penalty (which is obviously why it wasn't called back), but it was an example of Yirenkyi's naivety; he's got to cut that type of risk taking out.

We saw it last season with all the relegated clubs too. Ipswich and Southampton at the CBS had the ref on strings all match. The only reason why Leicester didnt get the decisions too was because in a derby perhaps the ref doesnt give as much. Didn't stop them trying though with that defender, on his back, feet if the air for the Tats goal. Pathetic. Now EMC and BTA are trying the same. It’s the prem way unfortunately. If you cant beat then join them seems to be the message.
It is probably being coached into them. Also the odd elbow. We’ll pay for it.

I think part of the Forest fan's reaction is because they expected their team to just turn up and get the 3 points.
Like some of our fans did with Hull (even though we never beat them last season). What was even more bizarre was a lot of our fans seemed to think Brighton was a game we should win. I mean Brighton a consistent top 8 team. They also did to Arsenal yesterday what Arsenal did to us on the opening day.

I’m not saying we should just lie down and give up. No we have to try and compete and play with belief and confidence.

But I do think our fans need to be a bit more respectful of the teams at this level and respect what they have achieved and how they have established themselves. More importantly the task at hand for our players, every game is going to be tough and we should not be expecting any easy points at this level.

The level of commitment shown away at Manchester City and Nottingham Forest was admirable and better than many games we won last season.
