There are always those that take the piss when it comes to benefits, but the vast majority will be pretty genuine with their needs and abilities/disabilities.I posted it in the ADHD thread, as somebody with ADHD.
Yeah it does annoy me because it makes it harder for people to get support who just want support, not to blag benefits.
Up here in Scotland you can apply for the Adult Disability Payment (ADP) if you have ADHD. I have not bothered applying, although I could qualify, but my daughter is having to wait for a stupid amount of time for support on NHS so we may look at an application for her to help with the cost of private counselling or therapy.
We both struggle mainly with the anxiety aspect of ADHD/Autism, one of the many comorbid conditions that are so often associated, but she also has very low esteem and low confidence at times. We can now see how it is chipping away at her mental health. So for that purpose, we feel lucky that this option is on the table.
