Club Crest

I love our badge , but for me the clubs earlier badge would suit modern requirments more

ive always quite liked the old badge anyway View attachment 53524

We’ve already done the simplified badge under Hummel and imo I quite liked it.

I think the later one looks rubbish compared to the old. It looks like they have just deleted elements of the actual club crest with little thought or effort. The elephant looks tiny perched on the ball without the other bits. The old one has a wonky charm to it and looks better as whole.

The new club crest got changed as a money saving exercise from our previous owners.

That's why it doesn't have a green football pitch under the ball.

Are you sure it was a money saving exercise and not an increase in margins for the club?

The cheaper to reproduce line was more about the aborted 2005 shield badge. Thank feck we made enough fuss to stop that.

I'm pretty sure they did mention the later refresh would be easier to reproduce in branding and on the shirts due to them reducing the number of colours. But I think it was more a case of the old one needing an update, Like a load of teams our 90s badge put together pre Photoshop/CorelDraw, so they tidied up the wonky bots and made it cleaner to reproduce.

I feel the ribbons should represent the weaving industry heritage, and as a small note of ire the background colour should be blue, not red, to represent 'true blue'.

I imagine the red was originally there to represent the city’s official colours of red and green.
It made more sense when the ball was on the green grass.

Just found this image explaining the badge
The twitter thread on this is hilarious by the way.

Other clubs jealous that our crest actually has meaning behind it

Quite right it's a quality Club Crest. Over many years fans from other clubs have said how impressed they are with it.

I love our badge and think it is genuinely the best one out there full stop, it’d be a shame to see it ever change but if it did I’d rather they go back to the Elephant ball and towers design because that still carries history and identity.

But I do not want it to change
