Bosses at ACL have applied for permission to move two giant Coventry City club crests at the Ricoh Arena - and put two Wasps badges in their place.

An application for “express consent” has been sent to Coventry City Council as the stadium operators look to add the Premiership Rugby side’s branding to the arena after Wasps became 100 per cent stakeholders in ACL.

The two Sky Blues badges - which can both be clearly seen from the A444 Phoenix Way - will still be prominent - but relocated elsewhere on the outside of the stadium.

The planning application was made by ACL’s marketing director.

thats two completely separate issues.

One is a debate about getting rid of a used, tired, infested product that helps you go to sleep.

The other is a perfectly good matress

Yep, agree with this. It still pisses me off though. Thoroughly depressing looking at them mock ups. It'll be the seats soon :(

Still though it makes a mockery of those like te council and wasps themselves who claimed that Wasps would work with the football club and all the other shit spouted about how the wasps deal could be good for us and that they would try an work alongside the club.

They were old, tired looking badges anyway and the badges aren't being "removed" they're just making way for the Wasps badge...

If you go on their website the "virtual tour" of the arena shows "WASPS" at one end of the stadium. This is the next step.

Sorry missed the bit where they said they weren't being put up again. Still think it's wrong that Wasps to all intents and purposes own the ground.

I wouldn't expect that these will be the only or last changes. But what would you expect considering they in effect own the stadium and CCFC are day tenants It isn't from the Wasps point of view about rubbing CCFC's noses in it...... it is about Wasps making it their home and branding it accordingly. I think we have to get used to it certainly for the next 3 to 4 years at least, unless some miraculous business partnership is born between Wasps & CCFC (not holding my breath on that one)

Should have been all about CCFC no one else........ sadly for decades we have never had owners for whom it was all about CCFC or even close to that

Go back to sixfields RFC. Like it or not it is our home and it's in Coventry. That's the top and bottom of it and your post suggests a real lack of understanding to basic facts.

The sad thing is, the crest of CCFC holds a lot of history in regards to the actual city of Coventry, and it is to be replaced by a picture of an insect.

Well done Coventry City Council!

It was home. It may not have been Highfield Road, but it was home. Let's just wait and see what our owners have lined up for us next before we're quite so harsh on The Ricoh. I could name a number of games there where it felt a bloody brilliant place to be.

It's like close season - so many folk saying we won't miss Wilson as in Tudgay and Jackson we had the 'best partnership in the league'. History shows we haven't. The Ricoh may turn out to be the next Wilson....

FFS, why the council? Why not SISU, who still tell us all they want to build anew?

Can't people see though that if this bullshit is embraced and is particularly successful in Coventry, transformations like this will increase until CCFC become such a minor tenant that they may, just may not be required and there will be nothing that anyone can do about it. In short, if Wasps could become commercially viable with their own income streams, do you think they'll want a third rate football club shagging up the pitch.

tbf that was only one person insisting that Jackson was the best striker in the division, 99% of us knew we'd miss Wilson it was just in our position at the time the club needed the money.

We can't blame Wasps, they own it they can do what they want with it. Again, it is just the "everything will be done with CCFC and CRFC's best intentions" type crap.

Why would they play in a sky blue stadium? It is just all of the justification that came with it kind of made out it would be a bit different didn't it?
