Yeah. Nearly 8m in wages for 1 season is a bargain
Whilst im not suggesting this is going to happen, or that its even on the cards. To suggest that getting one of the best goalkeepers at the very highest of levels of all time for £8m (which let's be honest, isnt necessarily what he would be asking just because its what hes on now. Hes actually weighing up retirement. £8m to retirement is £0m. £8m to say 50% of that for one last season is £4m.)

Even if it stays at £8m, we need to sign a keeper for next season. We cant throw Dovin straight back in in the PL. Wilson wont cut anything higher than 3rd choice. We need at least 1 keeper signed, if not 2. £10-15m for a new keeper, plus £1-2m in wages, is still a lot more than £8m in wages for the very much tried and tested Nauer.

I'll never understand why so many on here get so hung up on "high wages" of players as an immediate reason to not sign them. Without actually putting a bit of thought in to it and looking at it from a different angle. And a free signing on £8m who we all know is more than qualified is definitely a good shout if we fail to sign Rushworth permanently (who none of us know how he'll get on at PL level).

Also, if he keeps us up next season in the same way that Rushwworth has saved us numerous points this season, then yeah.... £8m would be an absolute fucking bargain!

Second to Lampard getting something extra from the group the prime reason we’re actually going up is identifying Gyokeres and Hamer for peanuts and selling them on. There’s plenty of evidence our scouting is fine.
You could add Sheaf to that list too. That particular scouting team brought him in and we sold him on for much bigger bucks

For clarity the scouting team that brought in everyone after King came in is not the one that was here before (coincidence they left just before King took over). Hamer, Sheaf, Gyokeres, O’Hare, etc were all Badlan. Austin is MvE, Wright, Simms, Kitching, EMC etc

Correct. Which is why I suggested Sheaf could be added to the list

Rumoured fee would be about £12m. For that I think hes worth the gamble

EMC
Markelo
Sakamoto
Wright
Denkey
New RW
New versatile young forward like Nwaneri or Paez on loan

Would be a great forward line.
Markelo needs a championship loan next season, think Sakamoto and emc will be on the bench with 2 new wingers starting

Whether he plays or not, I want BTA to stay. He has a lovely smile.
I'm incredibly torn on BTA. Thought he was pretty poor last season, better than Simms (low bar) but still poor. He's been much better this season but i can't decide if the purple patch was just that and now he's served his purpose and will be moved on. I agree he's a likeable character.

Purple patch is possible. I dont think we would get better value out of selling him than now. Could easily get £4m.

Can’t see Lampard playing Wright on the wing.
Genuinely think Wright will thrive in the Premier league, the current style of football we play will need to change as we dont have the pace in midfield and defence to be as open. Can see him scoring lots on the counter attack based on his pace as we will sit a lot deeper. As for BTA i think it was a purple patch, his first touch is similar to Simms and currently not good enough for the prem, the ball has to stick first time at that level.

I think we’ll see a much more counter based 3-4-3 in the prem. I agree in that I think Wright could thrive with his pace and ball control in tight areas.

But my big concern with him in that system is his hold up play. Seems at times him and Simms struggle to make the ball stick which would allow us to break at pace.

Simms did this well at Portsmouth away.
