Whilst im not suggesting this is going to happen, or that its even on the cards. To suggest that getting one of the best goalkeepers at the very highest of levels of all time for £8m (which let's be honest, isnt necessarily what he would be asking just because its what hes on now. Hes actually weighing up retirement. £8m to retirement is £0m. £8m to say 50% of that for one last season is £4m.)Yeah. Nearly 8m in wages for 1 season is a bargain![]()
Even if it stays at £8m, we need to sign a keeper for next season. We cant throw Dovin straight back in in the PL. Wilson wont cut anything higher than 3rd choice. We need at least 1 keeper signed, if not 2. £10-15m for a new keeper, plus £1-2m in wages, is still a lot more than £8m in wages for the very much tried and tested Nauer.
I'll never understand why so many on here get so hung up on "high wages" of players as an immediate reason to not sign them. Without actually putting a bit of thought in to it and looking at it from a different angle. And a free signing on £8m who we all know is more than qualified is definitely a good shout if we fail to sign Rushworth permanently (who none of us know how he'll get on at PL level).
Also, if he keeps us up next season in the same way that Rushwworth has saved us numerous points this season, then yeah.... £8m would be an absolute fucking bargain!
