Spurs are shite and their squad cost over half a billion. It's not how much you spend, it's how cute you are in identifying the perfect fits, in terms of both ability and character, to complement the team.

I definitely won't be judging the recruitment based on the outlay.

I completely agree with you.

It’s why I thought Onyeka was a good signing for us. It’s not just that he’s a decent player but he was just what we needed: the final piece of the jigsaw if you like. He’s also hard working and I sense that he gets on well with the other players.

Zan Vipotnik at Swansea is being valued at £15m by Swansea, would anyone be interested in the player for this fee?

He’s not better than we’ve got imo. If we’re going to sign a striker, it needs to be someone we think is comfortably better than what we’ve got on the books.
Personally I'd need to see more than one good season in the Championship to know its not just a bit of a fluke but I don't think I'd be so bold to say no better than what we have either. Some of his finishes have been fantastic, another season of the same and he absolutely is better.

Exactly, last season he had 1 more goal than Simms and less than Haji who’d missed 3 months.

At £15-20m, it doesn’t strike me as the best value signing. Sammie Szmodics had a 27 goal season and as fantastic as that season was, it is a complete outlier and Ipswich lost money on that deal.

The same people who talked up Tyrese Campbell last season are likewise pretty quiet because his number this year are closer to his Stoke days.

A lot of players have seasons they are incapable of replicating, some just have patches in seasons, not even a full one. I'm not qualified to be able to tell if someone is likely to be a one season wonder or not, but i am wary of one season wonders. If someone in the Prem decides to take the gamble then fair play to him. Gun to head i think he'll be consistently better than the likes of Campbell, Szmodics and Simms. Wright though?... not sure, lets see.

A goalscorer is the hardest player to recruit as so many score shed loads in the championship but are flailing in the PL people like Adam Armstrong come to mind, szomodics another one

I certainly don't see the sense in moving Haji on without giving it a go in the PL. He played well enough aganist Wolves and Man U in the Cup run to think that he can succeed. He'd hopefully have better players around him to providing more consistent service too.

We won't move Wright on imo.

Good news is Brighton seems to shopping around for a new keeper and the fact Carl hasn’t played to flight yet might be a risk for them. I can see a situation where they loan him to us for a season in the prem if they’re not going to sell to see how he does.

Feel like we need more than goals from a striker that we bring in. Brobbey at Sunderland has scored what? 6? But his hold up play is absolutely vital to them.

Yeah, and if we we keep him it doesn't necessarily mean he'll be first choice. I see both Haji and Ellis as viable alternative forwards in the Prem, on the assumption that we bring in at least one proven striker for that level. We aren't going to have a squad of 20+ proven Prem players, and I reckon there are at least 8-10 guys in our existing group who are capable of staying here and playing a part even if they aren't all starting every week.

Why would they loan a player who has one year on his contract left?

I'd like us to sign another Striker and a RW.

Options of

New Striker
New RW
Sakamoto
EMC
Markelo
Wright
Maybe Simms

Would give us more than enough cover.

We definitely should be looking at someone with the size and power of Brobbey, the Prem seems to have gone down the massive unit route now and we are lacking. Haji and Simms might be big but neither play like they are on a regular basis.

We’ve been linked with Denkey who is a powerhouse forward

They have a year option don’t they?

Yes? So they loan him for a year and then make him sign an extension if he did well and then he sits there for another year and leaves on a free. Not happening.

I would like a high quality loan to play RW who could also play CAM.

Nwaneri or Kendry Paez fits the bill.

If we can’t get Rushworth.. I would love us to go for Lukas Hornicek from Braga.. might be a tad unrealistic as he’s been great in their Europa League run, but prem money talks
