You suggested 11 new signings, even at an average of £10m per signing (& Onyeka) that's a ~£118m spend plus a massive increase in wage budget. Just can't see that happening.King said he wants to have a go. So that means doing what he can to stay up.
They spent almost £200mSunderland being 2 points off europe should give every city fan hope we can get it right next year as our base is much better than theirs was
Its all about getting the right player profiles in (hot 2020s word )

Sure but if we probably dont need to spend anywhere near that much for starters to get near that squadThey spent almost £200m

They had a fair wack from the Bellingham sale of £30mThey spent almost £200m
Whos said that?I can’t see us spending less in the PL than we did on the squad rebuild post Hamer and Gyokeres.

Was only thinking about that quote earlier this week...from now on we’ll be shopping at Harrods." (The "legendary" John Sillet)
To sound like a hipster 2000s born football analyst again .We had a better squad than Sunderland last season overall in my opinion. So they defo needed to do more.
We have to sign first team starters - at least 5 for meWe will see a much changed 11
Not very much changed overall squad. If that makes sense![]()
Sunderland are playing o nein , rigg and le fee every week atm .. we can get it right i feel confident of that

I think two of those is largely due to injuries?
Personally I think we'll sign around 8 players, 4/5 of those will go straight in as starters, the rest adding quality competition.Sure but if we probably dont need to spend anywhere near that much for starters to get near that squad
If ypu said to a sunderland fan last pre season luke o nein would be playing some matches as a starter youd be suggesting you wont stay up

Not seen much of Sunderland this year but Brobbey looks exactly the kind of striker we need.
That was a superb back to goal performance - occupying defenders, holding the ball up, he was excellent.
He cost £20m from Ajax, that's the kind of money we'll have to drop on a CF.
Yeah he’s always looked good when I’ve watched them. Not seen much of Sunderland this year but Brobbey looks exactly the kind of striker we need.

Good buy. Again, not one for “resale value” but if players like that keep you in the league for a couple of seasons, then it’s surely worth it?Just mentioned on another thread , sunderland paid 10.4 mill for alderete , really good centre half had great stats last season in la liga
Bargain

Who would you suggest and what qualities do you think will work in the Prem?Lampard has worked wonders getting us where we are with the 2 strikers we have . None of them should be anywhere near our squad next season.

Maybe we can get some bargains from the 3 teams who go down?
Fleming or Edwards Burnley
Consistently is my main issue with them both too. It seems a 50/50 toss up on performance. Maybe even 60/40 the wrong wayHe definitely fits the profile, though only scored 6 goals.
Flemings one I've though of.
Though again, how much for someone with single figure goals?
And as much as I agree with a lot of the criticism of Wright and Simms a little voice in the back of my head keeps reminding me of how well they played v Wolves and Man U (though both poor v Spurs)
