I’m certainly not anti Wright, he has had some great performances and is a quality player.

But when you wonder how someone like Vipotnik would have got on in our side this year, being given the same supply that Wright and Simms have had?

You can’t help thinking Wright is just not that clinical. Next year he will get fewer chances than this, will he really be able to step up? I really hope so.

Not very much changed overall squad. If that makes sense 😂😂

Assuming we get Rushworth I’d think we’d see something like:

Rushworth
Van Ewijk New New New
Grimes Onyeka
Saka Rudoni EMC
Wright

Signings for depth in midfield and wide

Well here's my two pennies worth.

You cannot compete with the small squad we've got in the Premier League so it's going to mean we're going to have to sign more than eight quality players.

I would 100% get Vipotnik as one of the striker options as part of the squad. He’s still very young and great upside. Would be a good investment.

If we can make the finances work I’d go:

GK (Hopefully Rushworth)
MvE CB CB LB
CM Onyeka
RW Rudi EMC
ST

S: Dovin, Thomas, KKH, Grimes, Eccles, Sakamoto, AM, Wright, LW

I mean TBH I wouldn’t sign Onyeka but that ship has sailed.

I know it’s hard to pull names out of thin air but every time we have one of these threads 99% of names put forward are either a) players who’ve played for us before, b) players we’ve been linked with before (no matter how long ago) or c) players we’ve played against within the last 3 months.

It means to me 1st eleven pretty much becomes reserves the rest get moved on and we buy a new 1st eleven

That is what I said earlier as well in terms of the 50% turnover in players.

Out:

Rushworth (Brighton but hope he comes back)
Collins
Bidwell
Brau
Kitch or Woolf (one will go)
Lati
Allen
Rapha
Esse (Palace)
Yang (Spurs)
Bassette
BTA
Simms

12 odd players leaving.

Then we need at least the following new signings:

GK
LB
x2 CBs
x2 CMs
RW
LW
10
x2 ST

Would leave us with a lot of CMs that

Think people need to accept that our signings won't be dictated by what we need to do to stay up, it will be dictated by how much King is willing to spend and what he sees as good investments.
Exactly. Aside from the fact that it’s impossible to know how many signings you need to stay up cash is the only driver in our investment strategy. King will have had his budget settled for 6 months or more. It won’t be based on staying up. It will be a mix of affordability and smart investment.
