The players we already had had have appeared in 84% of the total minutes on the pitch in the league. Of the difference, the majority of that is one player in Rushworth.

Can you link the posts where anyone has said we don't need to sign players?

Well in this thread we have Onyeka and Grimes are starting. Elsewhere the same people are telling me EMC and Sakamoto don’t need replacing. Generally I’ve seen MvE Thomas Rudoni don’t either. I guess you could say Haji Wright hasn’t been mentioned either so that’s three of the current starting eleven I haven’t had absolute head loss from the usual suspects on here for suggesting we need to upgrade.

LOL most of what i’ve seen about Sakamoto is that he will be a squad player.

Real clutching at straws

I think it’s clear we will sign players. I just wouldn’t expect the majority of our starting 11 to be different to this season if we are taking Doug at his world.

Rushworth, Dovin, Wilson
MVE, KKH
Bobby, ?, (maybe another if the plan is to use a back three)
?, Kitching
?, Dasilva

Grimes, ?
Onyeka, Torp, Eccles

?, Sakamoto
Rudoni, ?
EMC, Markelo
Wright,?, BTA/Simms

Dont see Lampard dropping any of the midfield three at least to start with. Similarly to MVE, Bobby and EMC. Don’t think they would have signed Markelo without thinking of next year especially when we really didn’t need to with numbers. Would rather quality vs quantity anyway like Brentford did when they came up.

Not confident that squad stays up but I didn’t think we’d win the league either. Any suggestions for the CB? Imagine you’d want someone with prem experience in all the above starting roles

You do realise that saying we're keeping this player or that player doesn't mean people don't want new signings?

We'll all disagree on who goes and who stays though. If you pool everyone's 'keep' lists then we will have the same starting 11.

In same way that if you pool everyone's 'replace' list we'll have a brand new starting 11

Here you go Clint. A quoted post claiming we should start with 8 of our current starting eleven

No, but having FTT enabled that tactical change. We had no-one else who could play the role Onyeka has been able to.

So, so much IS down to him, because we look a much stronger side because he is now included.
Really??? Swansea could of scored 3 or 4 against us on Saturday, they hit the woodwork twice and missed 2 excellent chances, and it took a great save near the end to keep the clean sheet.
Most of the chances were as a result of them opening us up down our right flank.

We got lucky getting a soft pen, a rare effort from Grimes and a deflected shot from Sakamoto. We certainly weren't 3 goals better than them at half time.

The only difference between the 2 teams was the finishing.

Sorry but please add this to your point scoring

You said that’s what you think we’ll do. I do not agree and think both Lampard and King are bright enough to realise not upgrading your team significantly after promotion is silly.

King has said we won’t spend £200m like Sunderland and people are taking that as well make two or three signings and a couple of squad players. I think you can get ten plus players of higher quality than we’ve got for £100m and that’s what I think we’ll do.

Ok note that down someone the temu thor thinks we are spending £100m

Here you go Clint. A quoted post claiming we should start with 8 of our current starting eleven

Not sure how you think that post equates to 'people 'refusing to accept we need to sign players'?
For a start, he's got question marks in their indicating new signings, and secondly, it's one poster

Me: people are saying we should start with 2 (later changed to 3) changes from our current starting XI

You: no one is saying that can you link to a post?

Me; links to a post of someone saying that

You: that’s only one poster

You didnt link a post to someone saying that.
You've linked a post where someone has included new signings.
You also said 'people' that's plural. You linked one person, who didn't say what you claimed anyway.

he's saying 8 of our starting 11 when that's clearly a squad not a starting 11

3 keepers and 2 rbs

And such a solid second half showing

What I think we will do doesn’t equal what I think we should do. Personally seen every club go up try and do it a different way and fail and as such don’t want to even pretend to know the right way. Ipswich spent £130 million last year to end up currently 3rd in the championship. Sunderland has spent a kings ransom which we simply don’t have. Burnley have spent £128 million and seemingly have failed as well.

I will add in contrast to Ipswich, Southampton and Burnley. The side which I think is fair to say has done brilliant is Brentford who spent £31.9 million. I think we will spend big but can’t see us selling large portion of our squad from this year.

I think we’ll add 8/9 new players into the squad (including Rushworth) for next season. I have to admit my opinion on the quality of the prem has dropped a bit having watched this season. No doubt it’s still a jump up, but I don’t think we need to spend £250m to just have a chance of competing like some seem to think. I imagine we’ll be starting something like this side in the first game next year:

Rushworth

MvE Thomas New CB New LB

Onyeka Grimes

New RW New 10 EMC

Wright

Subs:
Dovin
KKH
Rudoni
Torp
Kitching
Sakamoto
New CM
New LW
New ST

Reserves:
Simms
JDS
Eccles
Markelo
Lati
Wilson

Leavers:
Bidwell
Allen
Woolfenden - this could be Lati
BTA - this could be Simms
Brau (loan)

I imagine there will also be a key focus on improving physicality - you can see it with Onyeka - we’ll need a few more at his level to be able to compete physically in the prem, particularly at the back.

I agree, Swansea looked a decent team in the first half and on another day they would have been the ones 3-0 up at half time.
