Sign Hamer and Burrows go 352

Rushworth

Thomas - Woolfenden - Kitching

van Ewijk - Torp - Hamer - Burrows

Rudoni

Simms - Wright

just give Grimes a rest he needs it, when BTA is back start him over whoever is the most out of form up front, and when EMC is back go 343, or even switch it up to a 343 or 433 at 60 by bringing on Esse, Saka, Dasilva and Grimes

Grimes had the 4th to 17th of Jan off... should we have given him the whole month off???

We are 1 up and we either switch off or our LB and RB decide to go on a lung busting charges, leaving gaps that drag the CB out .. To win games you need players who are disciplined for 100mins with the nouce to see out when up in games while holding each other accountable.

To win a league you need the above, quality depth and a lot of luck.

Well, we are shit out of luck and now lack discipline and accountability by the look of it. The only hope we have left is Doug brings in more quality and FL makes changes to win games to bring about some confidence.

The best thing about yesterday is we are under no illusions about what we need to do. Just hope Doug does it and FL sits a few on a bench or in a stand until they grow up and stop playing like they already have the trophy in the cabinet.

🎵 We’ve got super Frankie Lampard
Frankie’s got no need for plan B
Just six men in attack
The full backs don’t get back
And a gaping hole where the midfield should be. 🎵
Change super to stupid. Then you’ve got a hit song.

How a world class midfielder in his time can't see the biggest fucking gulf in the middle of the park week in, week out is beyond me.
Moreover, he’s supposed to have a very high IQ. He’s looking very stupid now isn’t he? Stubbornly sticking to the same tactics every match and expecting a positive outcome is a recipe for disaster. It’s so easy to game plan against us.

I would never call him stupid. I think that's really unfair.

He just doesn't seem to see what we are seeing. Obviously still believes in the system.

I would change very little at home, but set us up differently away.

Set us up to be much more compact away and to aim to catch teams on the break. Not constantly being committing players forward all the time, leaving us very prone when the opposition breakaway.

If we can win most of our home games, but look at picking up draws away, we'd be fine.

The last two away games we have taken the lead and then lost and this has been against sides that are not quality sides or at the top either.

In both games, once we had taken the lead, I think we could have played a little more conservatively and compact. Especially yesterday. We scored in the 53rd minute, which gave us a great base to protect that lead.

If we manage to get a couple of new players in before the deadline, what good will it do if we continue with this kamikaze formation.

Not sure why everyone is jumping on the 'Grimes needs a rest' bandwagon.

He regularly plays a full season at this level and it's not a position where he's running the most. He's fit, strong and doesn't rely on pace. Only a few weeks ago, everyone agreed how important he is, that hasn't changed. What he needs is help in there.

Whether that's Onyeka or another I have no idea, but a strong ball winner who works box to box.

A high IQ and a high football IQ are not the same thing (eg David Beckham). I do think Frank has both though, but he needs to be tough and if he continues with subs by numbers, going like for like in Robins style and not changing the formation, then he'll ultimately fail.

I agree with most of what you say but I can’t see us buying Hamer or Burrows. We might get Onyeka, although he may not want to come if he has watched videos of our recent games.

MVE them JDS are our biggest problem, especially away from home. They're not defenders, they can't defend, can't tackle.
Forever chasing back having lost their man.
They have no defensive positional sense and don't form a cohesive defensive unit with Thomas and Kitching.
