Doug’s new year message (42 Viewers)

Think King is spot on here. There's always excuses, and while there will always be the occasional 'genuine' case for most part its exactly that, an excuse.

The team deserve all the support we can give them, as frustrating as it can be when we have a bad game.

I get that some people believe they should get more if their ticket is resold but having 3,000 empty seats is piss poor when the game was sold out. People literally can't be arsed to click a button which will give someone else the chance to attend. We normally get the 'I sell / give it to a mate' line but that's clearly not true for the number of tickets being scanned into the ground.

There's gaps every week in the family stand, which is supposed to be sold out and has the exchange active for every game, despite people moaning that the area was too small when tickets first went on sale. And if you check online there's only ever a handful up for resale.
Presumably the FS ones are often late shouts with illness, especially this time of year and when it's cold.

The one thing I’ll say on this - and I think I raised it with @Sky Blue Pete previously - there’s no real way of knowing when the teams have come back out. I’ve had it before where I walk back to my seat and it’s 2-3 minutes into the 2nd half. Would be good if they could stick something over speakers in the concourse (assuming there are some?) even if it’s just the “please welcome back Coventry City” bit.
Do they not play the same adio on the concourse? I very rarely go fiwn at HTbut assumed you'd hear Gangsters.

Not in the slightest bit veiled. Don't abandon your team after all they have given you pricks
When me and dad and the kids left early against ipswich , we stopped by the statue and i turned to my dad and said " dad , why did we abandon the team that has given us so much " he laughed and we went home

You will be visited by 3 ghosts...
The first will be the Doug of Ipswich past.

Dig at people leaving is a bit silly.
We were beat, it was freezing, its Christmas, people want to beat the traffic and get back to their families.
And I say that as someone who was there to the end.

He could of appealed for people to stay to the end for the upcoming fixtures without having a go at those who left early.

But it wasn’t going to be a late finish was it. Most people seemed appropriately dressed for the weather. Most importantly people haven’t left in those numbers when we are winning. As fans don’t complain about players when you have no backbone yourself.

How do you know its not a late finish?
Surely individual circumstances influence what somewhat deems late or not?
Again, it's easy for me, I'm half hour away, some people come tomorrow further afield. Some people have young kids in tow, there could be lots of reasons.

FWIW I wasn’t up for it all, 6pm was a joke. Didn’t even get half an hour to sit down when I got home from work to wind down and collect my thoughts, livid!

I can still guess the biggest driver. There were also lots of reasons why we were not necessarily beaten at 0-2 after 80 minutes, plus injury time to play.

People can leave whenever they choose , its really that simple .. Doug can ask nicely but fans will ultimately do as they please

Doug can get away with a lot, due to the credit he has in the bank with the supporters. However, fans have short memories and can be fickle, so he would get flak for being bolshy if the team is struggling. Don't mind his forthright style though.

That aside, which has always happened and it’s fair enough, the ‘droves’ he’s on about was very noticeable. What was even more awkward was the little chants against those leaving 😬

We were very much beaten.
As I said earlier, we were outplayed and out of ideas.
Yes I don’t disagree. But one mistake, one stroke of luck and the picture can change dramatically. Ipswich needed a win and we only needed a draw. I know you have enough experience of watching football to know that. It was poor and would look poor on a live televised match. I know someone who watched the game on TV and they said they showed our fans streaming out.

Perhaps our fans should stop calling teams tinpot then and having ago at poor away followings.
