Doug’s new year message (54 Viewers)

Part of me agrees with Doug entirely…I have never really understood leaving early, if for no other reason you might miss something spectacular…as well as supporting the team etc etc.

The other, belligerent part of me thinks, “fuck you doug. We’ve spent our money and we’ll do what we like thank you very much”.
Welcome to my world.

He’s asking fans to be fans, help the team when they need help, not bugger off home moaning after one poor 80 mins.

He’s right.

If we want to go up we have to play our part.

We'll fight to the game is won...or if its a bit chilly...or we want to get out of the car park quickly...or if we're losing...

Anyone who thinks a few thousand people staying an extra ten minutes was going to change the outcome of that game is just as deranged as the clowns moaning because we're not averaging 3 or 4 goals a game in December.

He hasn’t said that. He’s trying to nip negative fan behaviour in the bud.

In the same way Frank tried to educate the footballing illiterate about how to press a ball olaying Ipsw, and it’s not by asking Wright to blindly charge at the keeper !

I'm not impressed by much of this this address, not up to his usual standard feels like it was written in the aftermath of a disappointing evening.

If non attending season ticket holders are to put tickets on the exchange then he has to provide something of real value in return, food and beverage vouchers bah, big deal, personally I wouldn't eat the food they sell even if it was free.

What does he expect of the fans when we got rolled over and showed no resolve or fight.
It was a miserable situation. I left myself a few minutes before the end.

FYI I have not missed one home game this season.
Conundrum, putting your ticket on the exchange will only result in more of these kind of attendees?

What a fantastic statement .

Being a season ticket holder through the league 2 days it pisses me off when I hear people around me leaving saying “this is fucking shit”

Ive said it loads, I welcome the newer generation of supporters who have turned up since we have been doing well, but the atmosphere in the stands was so much better with 15,000. Some of the newer generation have an entitlement about them and expect expect expect.

Believe me, the performance on Monday wasn’t great, but compared to losing at home to Forest Green etc…

Doug is spot on, this is our best chance ever and we all need to play our part - including the new generation who will be demanding away tickets next season if we go up

I never said he said it.
I was referring to your line, 'if we want to go up we need to play our part'.

While I agree with that in general, nothing the support was going to do in the last 10 minutes was going to change the outcome of that game.

Agree with every word he says on that.

Don’t buy a season ticket and then not turn up.

Spot on for most of that. I few points I'd personally comment on.

The exodus after the 2nd goal went in was super disappointing. It should have been 10 minutes of 'we are top of the league' and a big happy clappy send off. I get some people always leave early for whatever reason, so not a dig at these, but the sheer amount of people was unbelievable. Literally queuing to get down the stairs.

For the ticket exchange, I'm not bothering for the U18 £7 voucher when my kids don't want to go. It's not enough, I don't care if someone else wants a ticket for the match and I could end up with a weirdo next to me. Or even worse someone from here...

Dig at people leaving is a bit silly.
We were beat, it was freezing, its Christmas, people want to beat the traffic and get back to their families.
And I say that as someone who was there to the end.

He could have appealed for people to stay to the end for the upcoming fixtures without having a go at those who left early.
Can’t bitch and moan about atmosphere all year then fuck off the first time we lose. Half the famous diehards in the corner fucked off after the second goal against Ipswich.

I'd rather have an owner calling as he (and a lot of us) see it and maybe not get his words bang on, than just talk platitudes. It's a bit clunky but I like the idea of a rallying call with some stuff from the club alongside it.
He’s putting his money where his mouth is. I think it’s fine for him to say what he did.

I'm not sure how people going 10 minutes before the end of a Christmas late kick off when we're losing 2-0 has in anyway contributed to an atmoshpere that's been poor for months?

He can ask as barely veiled as he wants, we can barely go to any home games despite having season tickets because we have nobody to look after junior.

The sentiment is correct… but interesting new years message making a thinly veiled attack on the fans

Nothing thinly failed about it, he made his disappointment very clear.

Fair play to him, hes invested a King's ransom in buying out SISU, bringing in FL and buying the stadium, not to mention backing Frank in the transfer market and resisting any advances for our better players,
So I guess he is entitled to be a bit pissed off watching fans disappear just because we are behind in a home match.

Don't disagree. Like someone else said, it just read like it was a bit rushed. First draft kinda vibe. Maybe he nicked the login and skipped the media team like the Forest owner and we can look fwd to unhinged X posts about ref decisions in the near future.

I didn’t get the opportunity to go to Ipswich, but I’d have probably left when MVE is taking the best part of a minute to wind up his long throw when we are 2-0 in the 91st minute.

I really love this. The chairman actively involved and putting out things like this. Fucking hell how long has it been since someone really gave a shit like he does?!

infuriates me when people leave early to go to the bar or to “beat the traffic” - which is total bollocks by the way.
We HAVE to be there for the team for these next 11 games. We could very well witness our team winning the league, this is ccfc history in the making - imagine saying “i didnt see it i left early”

If he doesn’t bring in 4 in January then he deserves pelters 😂

I left The Ricoh just after half time at Japan women v Sweden women in the Olympics. 0-0 at the time, and my 6 year old son asked if we could leave. I'd have said no if City were playing :ROFLMAO:

so Long as they don’t put in another performance like that then I doubt it will happen again, fans left because they were pissed off with the performance they were watching, and it’s ok saying but theyv‘e done well so far, we can’t drop to that level against anyone ,that was the worst game to not turn up in,

Some messaging here I agree with Doug and I'm not been one who has blindly supported him.

Good move to finally accept the categorisation/pricing of games this season isn't appropriate.
Reducing pricing will fill the stadium for supporters who quite understandably not in a position in practical terms to get a season ticket but still want to go at an appropriate price. Also important to not alienate other clubs in our league and be more befitting the type of City Coventry is.

Its not practical/sensible for me to get one where I live, although this season I have. I exchanged my ticket for Sheffield United and when too ill to go to Ipswich. The incentive to do that isn't strong enough for some. That sounds though that might change.

Everyone get behind the team its vital. Doug is quite right on that. Vastly more 'smooth than rough' this season but important to still back the team when things not going so well. Performances have dipped lately due to various factors but lets help the team not to blow this fantastic opportunity the team and management has provided.

Go for City!

With respect, This is bollocks. There was every chance we could have got a quick goal back after they scored. Then we'd need every fan there screaming on the team.
