Can you explain your reasoning for wanting to sign a 32 year old slow as fuck has been who doesn't score goals, cant get a contract anywhere else, was shite at Leeds in his last season there, (zero goals in 18 appearances) and who would be behind Wright, BTA and Simms and would only be competing to be an unused sub?

When we could use the squad place for someone who actually has a future in the game, and could make the step up to the PL.
Was injured most of his last season and has scored goals in the prem previously, but I'll give you 2

1 Frank know more about football than you do and he thinks he's a good character to have about the place

2 He is experienced at getting out of this league and nobody else at the club is, as far as I'm aware. He might never play, he might have one moment like a Patterson that gets us over the line.

Oh! ok fair enough.
I don't watch any BBC television so can't really make a judgement. Just based that comment on what I've read on BBC's own website

Are we short of good characters then, or footballers?

And are we signing players NOT to play now?

Frank knows more than I do, (the only bit you got right) and Frank said hes just here to train as a favour. So maybe hes just here to train as a favour 🤔

We're not a charity. One thing getting fit, but if there is no intention to have a look at him and see if he can add something to the group, then he'd be gone before now.

This is what Frank said when Paterson started training with us:

Gone where?
He hasn't got a contract offer elsewhere or he'd be off. If he's here to get fit then it would make sense to stop and get fit until January, when clubs can off load players and make room for a free signing.

He'd be a good signing for Sheff Wednesday (just an example) if they are taken over and allowed to sign players by then of course.

My reasoning:
1) Versatile. Can play across the front 3. Haji blows hot and cold and gets a lot of niggly injuries. Only a matter of time until we're relying on Simms starting games.

2) As a like-for-like target man v Simms, honestly think he's better! Simms has impressed this season, but he's only good when he's in the mood. If Haji is out for a few weeks, we cant rely on Simms to be in the mood long term. Honestly think he's better at Simms job than Simms is.

3) If we cant have a striker in our squad because of lack of goals, then Simms needs his contract ripping up and terminated aswell! If anybody told you FL would get 10 goals out of BTA all season you'd of laughed, let alone after 15 games. If FL can get him scoring, why cant he get Bamford scoring again? The guy knows where the goal is. 1 scenario, the ball that falls to Simms v Wednesday he dragged wide, 100/100 that falls to a player like Bamford its on target. They very least he's forcing the keeper in to a save!

4) We have some great, young, hungry, talented players in our squad. However, we lack any kind of experience. Woolfy aside, we dont have anyone with PL experience or experience of getting promoted from this league.

5) He's free. Point me to another player of his past talent, with his experience, available ANYWHERE on a free? You wont find one!

6) FL and the backroom staff all know him well and they seem to be getting the least likely of candidates scoring this season. Why couldn't they get him scoring?

7) He has more PL goals than Simms has PL appearances. Over 100 PL appearances! But he's shit according to some on here?!

I’d definitely take him on a deal till the end of the season, don’t worry though mate because the sbt ‘experts’ on here always think they are right about everything

Point proven @DT-R this smart arse will try and make a case for anything, just ask him why he liked to point out he was a teacher 700 times a week on here and he’ll soon go quiet
Mate, don't a twat yeah. It's actually a valid statement.

Dele Alli was a much better player who is younger and more experienced at the top level.

Oh hello there, the point is just that players of a decent age who've made a lot of PL appearances might not be as effective anymore. Dele Alli has more top flight appearances to his name and is younger than Bamford, but he's clearly nowhere near good enough for us right now.

Said elsewhere if Lampard thinks Bamford improves on what we've got I trust him, that's what having him in training is all about. Back to your weird fantasies and delusions anyway

Don’t a twat yeah? You always swear and abuse people on here so that’s rich from you

Bamford would 100% do a job for us, if it’s a good deal and not too high wages then why not

Bamford would 100% be the 4th choice striker and that's not worth it..

Or he might come in and do really well and give some good competition to wright and simms, we don’t desperately need a striker so why waste millions in January when we can get one for free and spend the money on other positions

Or why waste what would still be a decent sized wage on a position of strength and depth?

I mean you just posted without even quoting anything about me? So you need to have a look at yourself weirdo, had a mare with that one
To be clear Dominic, I posted about Dele Alli as a more experienced and younger former top flight player than Bamford as an example of how having played lots of top flight games on its own doesn’t make someone worth signing.

You then jumped in with some childishness rather than engaging with the discussion. We could still do that at any time if you fancy moving on from begging for bites

If Patrick Bamford scores a ‘Patersonesque’ volley in the 94th minute to confirm our promotion then sign him up now I say.
