I'd suggest we need cover on the wings far more urgently than we need a 32 year old has been as fourth choice striker.

The whole idea that we should sign him is absolutely rediculous.
I think so too. I doubt it's in the reckoning unless there's an emergency and then he's there. How convenient!

Why can't we have both a winger and a striker doesn't have to be Bamford does it. 🤔

I've never been a huge Bamford fan, but whilst we have a very talented squad, we don't have bucket loads of experience at the top level and Bamford has been part of squads promoted from this league previously. If the budget works and Lampard thinks it's a good idea, then that'll do for me.

Well we never got Haji back from the last intl break so maybe its a blessing? Cant come back any worse unless he comes back injured!

Scored two very nice goals for the US then vanished when he came back. Very odd character

Can we not sign both a striker AND and winger? Who says IF we sign Bamford, we cant still get a winger in January too? Did you not think of that?

Exactly. I think FL is in a better position than us to judge and if Lampard thinks it could work, I trust his judgement

Not saying he’s signing or supporting the idea but doesn’t he also play as a ten?

If so would give us good cover there as well as at striker

Who knows? They clearly planned to add a winger in the last window but they will be also be careful about cashflow. We'll still be paying out a lot for previous transfers on top of wages. Nominally we've got three spots free just now.

Surely signing gets more attractive by the week from Bamford’s side as well. Another promotion can’t hurt the CV if he’s doing nothing else.

Exactly! The potential for injury and loss of form due to fatigue / jet lag is immense, especially to our two top scorers

If we can find a deal to take Bamford and FL thinks he still has the ability to make an impact its a no-brainer of a signing. Good level player who knows this league and the prem and if he adds to genuine 1st competition go for it.

My only concern would be does he fit into the group as they look a very solid close unit to me. Those who break ranks dont hang around by all accounts

If Frank does it, i support it. That's all i think about it really. My feeling is its going to happen but could be wrong.
If anything else it’s also about seeing how he fits with the rest of the squad. If he’s an awkward personality fit it probably isn’t worth doing for example.

He's literally in the group already though.

Isn't he just supposed to be a pretty friendly, well spoken bloke? I think Lampard mentioned he's a good bloke, that's why he's allowed him into the group in the first place. Honestly i have no strong feeling, he almost moved to La Liga and if Frank is seeing him first hand and thinks he can offer something, particularly with his versatility in those forward areas, then in makes sense. We'll see bigger moves in Jan too i'm sure.

Oh I agree, he doesn’t come across as a bad bloke. Lampard’s paid to make these decisions and I trust him if he thinks it’s worth a go.

Good progression anyway from Sean Maguire > Paterson > Bamford.

Yeah and the longer that goes on the higher chance he stays. I don't think its player evaluation on FL part he already know what qualities Bamford brings. Its a question of does he fit in, does he bond and want the same outcome as the group.

So does he still have it
Do the group like him

If both yes.

Then the ball is in Kings court.

Yes he could play straight away, but why would we want him? Its not as if we are struggling for goals or having a poor start to the season.

Bamford's best days are well behind him, hes 32 and managed 14 goals in the last 4 seasons. This is a classic case of a players reputation getting better the longer he doesn't play.

Absolutely not what we need. Let's move on.
I tend to agree, especially if the Manneh rumours are true. But I hadn’t realised he was as versatile as he apparently is, and if we can afford him - and Lampard thinks he’s good enough - why not have come in a be this seasons Jamie Paterson? Just as squad insurance more than anything.

Lampard did say:

"Asked if it’s just a case of doing the 32-year-old striker a favour, Lampard told CoventryLive: “Yeah, I guess you could call it doing him a favour. I know Patrick well and he hasn’t got a club. He’s training with us. I’m very happy, he’s a good lad, Patrick. He’s very easy.

“I know the conclusions everyone’s going to get to but he’s just training with us.”

It was only a couple of weeks ago!

Ill give you 2 reasons:

1, he will cost us wages and basically be a highly paid spectator

2, he will take up a squad place that could be given to a younger, faster, fitter player with genuine ambition to get to the Premier league

Can you explain your reasoning for wanting to sign a 32 year old slow as fuck has been who doesn't score goals, cant get a contract anywhere else, was shite at Leeds in his last season there, (zero goals in 18 appearances) and who would be behind Wright, BTA and Simms and would only be competing to be an unused sub?

When we could use the squad place for someone who actually has a future in the game, and could make the step up to the PL.

How do you know he has no offers?

Manneh would make sense.
Bamford wouldn't.
