Surely this all depends on how fit he is and what wages he'd demand. If he's in good nick, raring to go, and realistic about money, he'd be a fantastic addition to the squad IMO - always thought he was a very fine player.

But if he's struggling at 80% fitness and looking for silly wages we'd be mad.

I don't see the sense in having a fixed opinion either way without having that information. Lampard will know.

He was let go by his club / I think he literally played a few minutes and got sent off and never appeared again. He’s had many problems but still surprised that he and a club haven’t made a go of it

You do realise that having premier league experience 3 years ago doesn't automatically mean that your guaranteed to always be better that a player at the top of the championship dont you?

I mean let's just ignore the 2 relegations from the Premier league that he has, and the fact that he was fucking woeful in his last season in the PL (4 goals in 28)
The guy is 32 ffs, and there might be a reason that hes currently unemployed

So do you think he will accept 5k a week then? No one is saying he's demanding 70k a week but when you have been on that money you aren't going play for a tenth of that 3 months later. He will want big wages.
We signed Joe Cole on loan so Villa would have paid most of his wages.
Wilson is allegedly getting 25k a week basic and 50k appearance fee. 75k a week for 6 or the 9 weeks of the season so far. If they play a midweek game as well he will be on more than he was on at Newcastle.

Wilson is not on the same wage as Wright and Grimes
