Last week was 7hrs (90km), i'd say 4 and half hrs per week is average for me. Ideally I'd be hitting 100km per week if time allowed!
Whilst training for a marathon is definitely difficult and requires time, I still think there is a relative aspect to it depending on your current running ability/ general fitness and your target marathon time.
I'd highly recommend Adidas Evo SL. But again, i'd say this depends on the runner. I have a friend who is 6' 3" and a bit slower than me, and he says the Evo SL is the least stable shoe he has ever tried on.
Asics have just brought out a new range - sonicblast and megablast - to go alongside the novablast and superblast. I use the Novablast as my everyday runner. Superblasts (I have not used) come highly recommended but are pricey! The two newer designs also look good, but again not used these.
I plan to buy/use Adidas Adios Pro 4 for the marathon.

I've heard excellent things about the Evo SL so for sure will take a look.
A lot of my running is on gravel too, seen the Salomon Aero Glide Grvl which I'm tempted to get as an easy runner

I don't usually run on gravel, predominantly road running. I'd say the Evo SL would not do well on gravel.

I've done the Memorial Park as well but I live abroad.
I run in Pegasus for my easy runs...... and currently got a pair of Alphaflys on the go for sessions/races.
(mainly because i got a huge discount on them, otherwise i doubt i'd have forked out for Alphaflys...... although they are admittedly absolutely brilliant)
I went over to Warwick Uni on sunday morning to do a session of tempo mile reps. The aim was to do a minimum of 6. But having trained hard on thursday night, and done some heavy leg stregth work on saturday, my legs were pretty sore and i stopped after 5.

I was pretty satisfied with that, all things considered. And was very pleased at how relatively "easy" running 5:40 miles felt.

Burnham on Sea half marathon for me tomorrow. Did it last year in 1.27 something but would take anything under 1.30 considering current fitness!

1.27.30ish at Burnham Half this morning, quicker than last year and was comfortable the whole race....just didn't have the pace to kick hard last couple of mile for a PB

I ran the Lake District Mountain Trial yesterday.
Was pretty happy when i reached the map point..... nearly all of the route was across the areas i ran on when i was living up there...... in fact there were two checkpoints on the mountain i used to use for hill rep sessions.....
Finished 9th in the end..... a lot of the legs between checkpoints i ran quickly, and three of them i actually ran quicker than the eventual winner...... however my fine-navigation is somewhat lacking...... made a bit of a meal finding the correct stream bend for the first checkpoint, and nearer to the end had an absolute debacle finding the correct "bottom of crag"..... these cost me bigger chunks of time which made the difference.

Next saturday is the Midlands 6-Stage Road Relays..... i'm running Leg5 for Godiva in what looks like a fairly strong Masters team.

I love my SLs, they are amazing to run in but my god yes they are unstable.
I definitely feel little tweaks and niggles in around my ankles after a hard run in them.
For that reason I do most of my tempo stuff in a pair of Boston 12s. A bit firmer and more stable, but quite snappy.

How do you find the novablasts? I need a new easy runner. I think I'm going to have to get a hybrid between grvl and road though as i run on gravel and wet mud a fair bit.

I like them. Definitely good enough for an easy runner - stable and comfortable. Had no issues. I'd say they are likely to last longer than SLs/Bostons.
Superblasts are supposed to be superb, but pricier.

Hoka Challengers are the perfect cross shoe for the road and light trails.
They`re basically they`re best selling Clifton, with a slightly more chunky sole.
I use them as my go to trail shoe for pretty much everything, apart from super heavy conditions, when I switch over the my Inov8 X talons.
( always go a size up with Hoka though )

What was the weather like, as I was in the Peak District yesterday and it was pretty gnarly to say the least.
I was pretty fortunate......
It was far from pleasant, but the worst of the wind/rain stayed away until late afternoon. The main thing was the visibility wasn't too bad.
I was out on saturday up there and it was shocking..... and today i abandoned all plans to go out into the hills due to the MWIS forecast, and went to Lancaster instead.

I was around Bakewell and got caught in it.
I can handle the rain, but it`s when it`s being driven into your face by the wind and you can`t see properly, that it becomes a bit stupid.
I wore gloves yesterday..... not because it was especially cold, but because i was using map and compass, it just becomes tricky if your fingers are even a little cold.
Although about 20mins from the end i cupped up a load of water from a stream for a drink. I was on the home leg and knew my way, just wanted to get back, couldn't be arsed to remove my gloves so i just got them soaked....... hands were freezing by the time i reached the finish.

I've got challengers (7 now and had 6 before) and they're just brilliant imo, use them on roads and light trails.

I`ve get something called metarsaligia on the sole of one foot ( like a burning pain ) and saw a sports podiatrist for it, who was also an ultra trail runner.
He swore by them and persuaded me to give them a go when it was the Challenger 3, so I long time I go !
Since then I`ve had at least two pairs of of every Challenger since and I`m now on my second pair of the 7`s, which I think have been the best out of the lot so far.
I really can`t see how they can improve on the 7`s are to me they are the perfect light trail shoe and now that do wide versions in all of the Hoka`s cater for everyone too.
I`ve got a pair of Hoak Speed Goats for rougher trails, but they`re still not great in serious mud / water - Inov8 X Talon.
Speedgoats are incredibly comfortable..... but as you say they are absolutely lethal if its properly wet/muddy.
The Graphene X-Talons were my favourite shoe for fell races..... however Inov8 are always messing with their range and don't make the graphene version any more...... i'm currently using a pair of Adidas Terrex SG fell shoes which are really good, but the durability is poor, the uppers just can't seem to handle more than 6-10 really tough fell races.
I'll go back to X-Talons, or VJ Irocks next.

The weird thing with Inov8, is that they seem to mess around with all of their range, apart from the X Talon`s.
You`d think that that if they had a particular shoe that was a consistent best seller, just like the X Talon`s, that they wouldn`t totally revamp it every 18mths or so ?
I appreciate that the off road shoe market is fierce, but they don`t mess around with the X Talon`s, why mess around with the other stuff - like the Graphene range ?
Everyone had them at most races I went to a few years back and as you know they weren`t cheap !

I think the major part of Inov8's market is in America with trail running..... and a sweeping generalisation here, but i assume the yanks want technological improvements and to feel like they are running in the latest shoes..... i think in the UK people just want what works.

First run since the marathon in April last night, 5k at a nice steady 6:20/km. I've been feeling a bit shit recently and wanted to get out before the weather properly turns so took advantage of it being sunny after work, was great to get back out again. Obviously I wasn't pushing but I was surprised how good I felt after so long, not out of breath or heavy-legged at any point.

Talking of gear, can you recommend a decent comp legit waterproof jacket, as my old faithful Aussie Grit 20,000 mm is on it`s way out.
I`ve been looking at the Invov8 Stormshell V2, but the reviews are a bit mixed, but it will only be for racing and not training.
I can`t afford £200 which some of them want !
I was going to suggest the one i've got, which is the best i've ever had.......

However its at least in the region of £200, if not more.
Montane Minimus seems to be a popular one, and i'd probably gamble on it if i found a good deal...... although i've not had one myself so can't say for definite.
