I don't want to go on about it like some that have been negative on everything all summer and there's little point in repeating how disappointed you are every 2 minutes in slightly different ways but I do want to pick up on one point here..
I don't think it's clear we needed to sell somebody at all. Even before Sheaf went we knew we'd bid on Hughes and Godo. If we're conservative and go lower end let's say £12 mil for the pair. Then we sold Sheaf. You're talking over £15 mil of transfer funds that were available to the manager going unspent I would think. Something fell down on the recruitment side, no question at all.
We would have found money for him if they bid was accepted but it would have added pressure to sell an asset in January.
We had long spent the Vik/Hamer money. Look at the business we did last summer and in Jan.
I agree with the final point, I don't think it went perfectly. They will be frustrated not to get one or two more bodies in. However, I think they'll be happy with the outgoings. I doubt anyone expected us to get as much as £6.5m+ for Sheaf. Similarly, the money for Binks.
