I reckon the key problems we faced were (a) other clubs not being prepared to sell the players we wanted (Charlie Hughes being the most obvious example) and (b) the market being significantly inflated, no doubt due in part to Birmingham and Wrexham.

Apart from at full back we haven’t added any depth or real quality at all and we are weaker in midfield, up front and arguably on the wings.

I just hope that our key players can avoid serious injuries.

Perhaps, although many do expect their player to be starting the majority of games. It possibly could've been more of a loan fee issue then.

Unfortunately, for anyone even half decent, a PL club is going to demand a fee, a reality which I get the impression King has an issue with, especially if it's for a player which in reality isn't necessarily considerably better than what we already have.

I think they will just say it’s a fast moving and fluid situation and nothing is done until it’s done. It wasn’t ideal but clearly there was a reason we kept radio silence.
The club for their part have stopped the leaks and so can’t really be blamed for the batshit rumours flying about that they didn’t acknowledge or encourage.

We have 3 absolute top quality centre backs. Top 6 material. Lats as back up isnt bad at all.

Whilst I admire your optimism I wouldn't say Thomas and Kitching are top quality with the amount of fuck ups costing goals, our achilles heel last season and the start of this season is that our defence isn't very good, I think the Wolfs in for a few lessons to give out on the fly!!

Who owns the stadium makes no difference to my experience supporting CCFC. Premier League money, disregarding anything else, sets the club up for years. The only advantage I’ve heard of owning the stadium is it increases revenue so we have a bigger credit line, which we’d only need to get promoted.

Championship football isn’t sustainable sadly. Even with 29k crowds we will lose millions each year. I’d love to stay here and have fun with proper fans but after 10 years or so without promotion you’re looking at a situation not far off the one that brought Sisu here in the first place. Or you’re hoping someone with silly cash comes in and gives you another 10 years.

The way the game is set up we have to go for promotion.

That's the only advantage you can think of to owning the stadium?
I'd say not playing home games in Northampton, Birmingham or Burton is also one.

I am more in the camp of signing the right players, rather than signing someone we can all get excited about only to be thoroughly disappointed in by the end of the season. It isn't always easy landing your targets. It can also take more than one window to get them done.

I think Sheaf was an unseen late bid, but with his injury record and contract it was an offer we couldn't ignore. Also I think it was clear Sheaf wanted to go and we probably owed him that move.

Will be interested to see how the young lads get on in league one. Shows we’re in a better place depth wise in short/medium (not immediate) term than people realise. Andrews was probably earmarked at that level as well before sheaf went.

Are we a couple light, yeah, if we pick up injuries. We’ve got something like 18-19 games til Jan window. We’ve got a better squad than a year ago in terms of direct replacements and lads coming through even if total numbers maybe dont reflect that. If key men like wright, Rudoni, grimes and maybe Kitching (or Woolf if as good as hoped) stay fit, we should be fine.

Lampard just isn't quick to use subs. You bring any player on late in the game and the lack of minutes they have limits their ability to make an impact, no matter who they are.

Now dust has settled a little , guess got to look at big picture.

stadium the most important purchase, ever. But does feel like a little step back/stagnate on pitch to go forward in future. Wonder what Lampard thinks on that, given he will want here and now.

sheaf and Rapha moves in isolation best for both, however the lack of replacements is bizzare and has now left us very short. We must must be planning to use KKH and Brau as backup wings.

be intersting what @Jimmy87 has heard, it wasn’t for want of trying, I’m pretty sure we tried for Smallbone from small snippet I heard , not sure in what capacity but obviously went to Millwall. frustrating we have been left really short on wings, Lampard can’t be happy.

we really need to cross our fingers until Jan injury and suspension wise.

Comms from admin were indeed very poor.

They show a lack of understanding of how fans actually behave on that final day of the window.

I doubt the club even recognise it. The fan representative forum that meets with King should mention it as part of the feedback on fan experience. It’s an easy quick win.

Can you give an example of a club who got the comms right? Our comms seemed pretty typical to me, not sure what the uproar is about.

My thoughts on this are we've done a total 180. We're no longer very reactionary. Before we'd have sold our captain and then scrambled around in a panic looking for a free replacement, and take whatever is available.

Doug and our recruitment team appear to be slow off the mark when a change happens outside the plan. Which begs the question - how does our recruitment team work, There should be a list of 5/6 players to replace every player in our squad in the event of a sale.

On top of that Doug appears to fancy himself as Daniel Levy Mk2, so every thing in a transfer appears to be meticulous. I don't doubt that selling Sheaf was the best thing for all parties, but to not have a replacement for our captain is just madness.

More than likely we’ll play with two 8s again this year at some point so think you’ll be correct.

It is a shame but the step up from academy to championship is huge.

Yeah, I don't think we should be relying on him as a backup striker and right winger.

What happens if Wright and Sakamoto get injured? What happens if Wright AND Simms get injured.

I know Rapha wasn't a world beater but he was a backup backup on the bench, especially if we are winning easily in games and could take players off to rest their legs.
