Could have done with a bit more cover though.

Sakamoto or Grimes get an injury....
Please stop putting them two in the same injury category. You’ll scare half the forum. Sakamoto will not be injured this season as much. He needed to get wiser and stronger and he’s doing that. But I do worry like you’ve said. So 🤞🏻 🙏🏻

We have brought more than one in.
Since last season that’s 10 out:
Tavares
Bassette
Patterson
Collins
Burroughs
Howley
Sheaf
Rapha
Obikwu
Binks
4 in:
KKH
Brau
Wolfenden
Rushworth
Can still pick up free agents so still time to strengthen. That said if we don’t we are a couple of injuries away from having real depth issues and it’s not been the window we were promised two weeks ago by Doug.
Lots of credit for the purchase of the stadium but to Doug it’s amazing that it’s done. But maybe Austin and the recruitment team maybe need reviewing, we seem to always be scrambling rather than being proactive KKH aside.

someone has dropped a bollock somewhere let's be honest.
Have they?

They clearly had a lot of targets, but if clubs don't want to sell / want too much money / player wants to high wages / player gets offered more elsewhere / gets an offer at a higher level, what are you supposed to do?

Sign the wrong players? Massively overpay?

It's disappointing, and it does feel that we're light, but if you're going for players who are going to take you to the next level, then you have to accept that it's going to be more challenging to sign them.

Well, we all wanted the club to make a statement to the rest of the league in this window, we've certainly done that. That message is injured one or 2 of our players and were fucked!

And of that lot, only really Sheaf is a serious first team player.

All of the incomings should be.

Yes they have. You have months to sort this shit out.

Got rid of a lot of deadwood.

Feeling Doug will change tact on loans and let Lampard move with some of his contacts. It worked for him at Derby so no doubt he will be pushing for the same.

I'm also annoyed that as fans we live for signings don't we, it's a fun thing! We only had fucking 4 all summer and even then they managed to completely buzz kill the last one.
Our socials are absolute shite.
I think they thought it would be a nice surprise 😂

If we were fucking idiots

No way that was our summer transfer plan, so what happened, money went on the ground or we had to sell to bring players in ? One of the best 11s in the league but desperately short in depth

Would have liked a couple more in, but we're no worse off than when we started today. Moved on a few fringe players, and bought in another CB, for a similar fee to what we got for Binks. Just have to hope the midfield trio stay fit otherwise we have problems.

It hard not to see this window as a failure for the recruitment team. We’ve obviously had money to spend and made offers, but during the last two months of the window all we’ve managed to sign is a single centre back who wasn’t even our first choice. If the recruitment team/club were happy with our efforts they wouldn’t have been scrabbling around in the last minutes of the transfer window looking for a loan.

I get that from the holistic view the club is doing fine, we kept our stars and we own our ground. These are fantastic things, but it‘s hard to shake the feeling of an opportunity missed.

And if for the reasons that I've stated (and more) you can't land the right targets? What then?

Sign the wrong ones?
This is the whole purpose of a recruitment team. They should in theory have many many players identified. They have a lot of time to sort this out my friend. They fucked it. We move on.

Turner saying no more. Genuinely baffled we’ve let 3 forwards go today without 1 coming in
We've let no one go who was going to get any minutes, so relax.
The outgoings make perfect sense.

We are thin as a squad, and could of done with a couple more bodies, but that's wasn't a reason to hang on to players that were never going to feature, their careers are best served by moving to clubs that will play them.

Moving forward we are going to have to manage players by using rotation when possible to limit risk of injury, and we are going to have to rely on luck to keep our better players on the grass till the January window allows reinforcements.

Its not ideal, but it is what it is.

At least we have cover at CH and for both Fullbacks now.
