Hull fans thinking this isn't going to happen seem to be completely unaware of the trajectories of both clubs atm.
Time to put these in their place like we did with the Swansea lot still seething about Grimes.
If it happens I’m interested to see how Lampard manages having 3 strong CBs for 2 places, but it’s a good problem to have

Hughes starts doesn't he. Can play either side so he plays with whoever is performing better at the time I suppose.

It’ll be Hughes and Thomas I’d expect.

No player should expect to get into a good side that's flying especially just after moving to the club. Then it's down to who is playing the best and who is most suited to the opponents.

Nothing wrong with a bit of squad rotation either.

Or if we did sign him it would actually give us options for different game plans. Could have Bobby for the more defensive minded games and Kitch when we need a better passer through the lines.

One thing will be funny is all of the fans saying £20m would change their tune quickly. Can’t wait to read £12m for Charlie Hughes, he’s shit and we’ve had Coventrys pants down.

Thomas was attracting interest from Sheff Utd and apparently even PL teams, so can't imagine he'd be happy sitting on the bench and would possibly be looking for a move away.

And Kitching has worn the captains armband so highly thought of as well.

Will be a tough decision for sure (if it comes to it).

So correct me if I’m wrong but Hughes would become our highest purchase of all time at 12 mil? I would rather we go for loans then break our sensible transfer policy of the last 5 years.

King isn't going to do anything to put the club in trouble. If we buy him it will be a price the club is comfortable with so don't worry about it. Why develop someone else's player instead?
Finally we're becoming a real club again.

I’m still unsure 12m if we have that money is best spent on a cb who is 21 years old. I get the investment side but it’s a big outlay for a young cb from Hull.
I back whatever they deem fit and Doug has completely earned my trust but seems a bit wild to smash our club record fee on a young cb.

I’m probably in a minority of one, but if we do somehow have £12m available, I’d rather spend it on a couple of £4m defenders for strength in depth. Only takes a pulled hamstring and we are back to walking a tightrope for a number of weeks
I think the business case for each player is likely to be different so it probably doesn't work that way.

That’s fine, but I just don’t think the player is worth that value. As others have said, I would rather invest in two players with that money who we can develop with good coaching. We’re not a poor club, but let’s not pretend we’re Birmingham, Wrexham or a parachute club.

How does it work if we offer Hull players in a swap? Are they able to do that. I know they can only sign loans and free’s

This is stupid though. Loans are guaranteed to lose you money as you’re paying wages/loan fee with no potential sale in the future. Hughes at 21 years old is almost a guaranteed profit at the end of it

We don't know what we are. If we're bidding it, we can afford. Why are people on here telling the club what they can afford?
They'll stop at a point they aren't comfortable and they'll move on if need be, but all signs point to another bid.

We obviously have ambition to go up, the club have identified Hughes as a player with massive potential. Let them do their thing. Saying 'buy 2 £4 million players' is meaningless. Darnell Furlong went for £4 million yesterday and that one is a big no from me.
