The ECHR was set up in large part in response to the atrocities that took place in Poland and elsewhere in eastern Europe, and the Refugee Convention was also created in the wake of millions becoming displaced as a result of that.

The man I'm sure most on here would agree is the greatest PM in the country's history played a leading role in both. He was right.
