Doubt it's solely based on needing to sell. Players want to play at high levels too. Broad head alone wanted the move.
Broadhead's was an odd move as he has gone to a lower standard in Wrexham.

I can't remember the exact figures but it was something like they lost 15 million in their League one promotion season and 45 million in the Championship promotion season. Spent £150 million on transfers in the Prem + the massive wage increase on those players. Sooner or later the bills have to be covered.

Any side getting promoted would have lots of players not good enough for the Prem. Spending £100m would most probably still have us near the bottom of the Prem table.

Hate to say it but Sunderland are giving it a proper crack. Will be interesting to see if they manage to stay up.

This year I think the relegation fight will be Burnley, Leeds, Wolves, Brentford, Bournemouth.

Sunderland, West Ham, Everton and Fulham just above them.

West Ham have started poorly but it’s a long season and I think they will get it together more than the other ones I feel will be in a relegation battle.

Not a chance will Bournemouth be in a relegation scrap. Bournemouth will finish between 10th-15th and be absolutely clear of relegation. Hopefully one day we can get promoted and have their level of recruitment, they have consistently gone below the radar recruitment wise, the players and coaches they have brought in are top top Premier League players.

My thoughts regarding relegation is fairly simple, 20th will be Burnley, 19th will be Leeds and 18th will be a toss up between Sunderland or Wolves.

Brentford will be right down their until they are forced to sack their current headcoach and go out and bring in a suitable coach for the level required.

Wolves and West Ham will be the sides battling it out to avoid relegation, but I feel Sunderland will ultimately be the side finishing 18th.

The praise you have given Bournemouth is the exact same praise you could give Brentford up until now... There comes a point where you just don't get recruitment quite right. And Bournemouth selling their whole defence is not a good method of ensuring safety...

I do think you are right they will be ok this season mainly because of the weakness of others.

Tbf I think that’s a fair point. Just because Woolfenden was part of Ipswich’s promotion team doesn’t mean he’s a top quality player at this level. He may have been the worst player in the regular starting XI purely because they had very little else to choose from. I’m not stating that as a fact obviously, because I don’t follow Ipswich, but it’s a possibility. On the flip side, he could be a top quality player for us, I just think it’s hard to get massively excited or be massively negative about him atm.
I'm not sure they target players based on whether you or the guy from Australia will be excited about them tbf.

What’s that got to do with anything?

Do you think Woolfenden is an exciting signing?

Our fans seemed quite excited about Hughes, I don’t see the forum sharing the same excitement over Woolfenden.

And you said it was to do with his last name LOL!

Your posts have become more and more odd recently tbf. You've made up a load of shit about a player being carried up in your head and got angry about it because it's not one of the names you've come up with.

Hull obviously have no intention of selling Hughes for anything other than a fee we obviously can't afford. So again, completely irrelevant if people are excited by it.

Weird behaviour to be turning your nose up at a centre half who’s played loads of games for a side that has got promoted from this league.

Woolfenden is also quick so would be a good fit to our high line alongside being a decent defender.

You’re supposed t on get as much of your business done early so your signings can integrate into their teammates and tactics.

We’ve got a week left and so far we’ve made 1 signing that is a starter and that is just a loan to cover an injury.

Even if we do make some decent moves it’s a poor window based on timing.

I’m also concerned that every rumour we hear is linking us with a player along with x and y championship club. It feels like our scoring unearthing a gem has given up.
We have done most of our business we kept the core of our team, a team that got in to the playoffs last year. Lampard has faith in his team I think you should too... You need to do your business early is it's wholesale changes to the team that isn't something we are planning.

An exciting signing? That would be reserved for a player similar to Rudoni.

Woolfenden would be a good signing. He is a defender who has already been a part of a side that got promoted from the Championship. He plays for the strongest side in the Championship this season. He isn't a Binks otherwise Ipswich would have sold him the first chance they got. Ipswich have just signed McAteer from Leicester for about 12m. They're after Caseres, a Uruguayan international defender and have made an offer. If the offer was accepted you would think they would let a defender go as they already have plenty of cover.

So do you think Woolfenden isn't good enough when he played 15 times in the Prem for Ipswich when they were throwing money around like it was confetti?

5th to 10th? Do you think there's 9 clubs in a better position than ourselves?

Out of the sides that finished above us last season 3 went up and the other is Sheffield United. They've had a very poor transfer window losing very good players to be replaced by young players without Championship experience.

Out of the sides coming down only Ipswich don't have big questions to be answered. Leicester look to be in a right mess.

Birmingham and Wrexham? Still undecided about Birmingham but Wrexham are looking mid table to me.

Ourselves? We've kept every player we wanted to so far. We've gone into the season with a strong settled side. We sold 1 player that most agreed wasn't good enough. We're not relying on Collins and Wilson like we did last season. We're still trying to bring players in and have made some big offers. There's still the loan option.

I'm sticking to my prediction of 2nd to 4th. We're the only Championship side that is stronger than last season.

We aren’t stronger than last season don’t be silly.

Really? We've lost one bench player and added three defenders. Defence being our weakest area last season - I don't see how that isn't stronger? We've also got a more experienced squad who have played together for a while.

I'm not saying we are miles better, but surely we're stronger than we were?

You can try and turn a reasonable debate into snidey commments if you want, not sure why you’d do that when I’ve said jack shit to you, but I just think people are potentially getting ahead of themselves claiming he’s this and that when we don’t really know what he is or isn’t. I’m not saying he’s shit, I’m not saying he’s good, just not sure he’s as amazing as some people are making out. Do we know he really wants to leave? Or is it just agent talk and rumour? Is it good that Ipswich are comfortable selling him to a potential rival? Just not sure it’s all rosy yet but on the face of it he seems like a decent player 🤷🏻‍♂️

I genuinely don’t see how we aren’t?

For starters, a lot more of our first team have developed into better players from this point last season. Rudoni, Torp as two examples.

We’ve lost Binks and Paterson and signed KKH and Rushworth. Brau is a bit of a wild card. I’d argue both of them are better than what we’ve lost.

We also have a much better coaching setup comparative to the disaster team Robins put together at the beginning of last season after Viveash's departure.

Think this is the big one. Been impressed with our fitness compared to last year when we couldn’t make it past the hour mark

A lack of fitness aside, the tactics were also non-existent. No one looked like they really knew what role they were playing and he was consistently putting key players in very strange positions - signs of a manager which had basically run out of ideas.

It's not a reasonable debate so there is that. If people want to get then knickers in a twist then crack on. I'm out.
