Pitch Dimensions (3 Viewers)

According to information online, the pitch dimensions at the CBS Arena are 120m x 68m and the maximum width permitted is 90m.
Considering that many teams will set up in a low block at the CBS and that the wingers and overlapping fullbacks are a key part of Lampard`s tactics, would the tactics be more effective if the width of the pitch is extended?

Used to be wider didn't it. Can't remember which manager changed that

Make it even narrower so MVE can throw it to the far post every time.

Narrow on the right for MvE wide on the left for Rudi?

I like this thinking.

And to expand on that, the goal we are defending should be lower and and the posts closer together and for the opposition, make the bar higher and the posts further apart.

Then obviously switch them at half time in readiness for the second half.

This is where the slide out pitch would have come in handy…

To get anywhere near 90 would we not have to remove some seating!!

Im sure it was narrowed for Gunnarssons throw-ins. Which in all.the time we did it, only resulted in that one goal v Newcastle in the FA Cup.

Aren't our pitch dimensions the reason why we have been allowed to host international games?

Funny you should say that!
Played at Hereford in the 90s, (they were in the football league!) one goal/crossbar was considerably lower than the one at the other end.
Officials weren't interested!

Wow! I just learned something new about the game. The size of the pitch can vary? American moment here. I thought it was more like baseball or American football where the dimensions are set.

Did you know that not all pitches are the same size?

The length of a pitch must be between 100 yards (90m) and 130 yards (120m) and the width not less than 50 yards (45m) and not more than 100 yards (90m).

So the pitch can be square? I'm not having that 🤣

Technically you can’t.

Though *technically* it could be 1mm longer.

That's a point a, we should take a leaf out of Kent CCC and plant of tree in front of the goal line. Collins might get a clean sheet 🏏🌳

That's a beauty to rival the Hadrian's Gap one, some nutter Will be along to turn it into sawdust, bit prone to beetle attack down South though.

In my above post, I meant more like “basketball” or American football where the dimensions are set.

Baseball, you can have differing dimensions, wall height & depth of field. One reason each field is so unique. Love learning that about football as well. Are most pitches pretty similar in size? Watching, I haven’t noticed one that looked way “off” by comparison.

It was a Lime tree. Got to 90ft! Sadly came down in a storm in 2005 (had a disease too) They have re planted one but it's the other side of the boundary now

Should have recognised it wasn't an Oak by the absence of s broader canopy, lime almost appears conical.

I know from football manager that Frank Lampard will get the message asking him to choose pitch size very soon.

Looking forward to seeing his choice in the intra-squad friendly v the u21s!
