Nonsense

Having banter with the other teams fans no makes you less interested in the game than sitting down and making a peep

This is one lazy stereotype that can do one

It's not nonsense. Seen it time and again at away matches.

Adding supporters and reducing the noise
Why?
Where’s the causality

Because the usual 'banter' between fans wasn't there. You couldn't hear the away fans from Block 16 and they wouldn't have been able to hear us either.

There's a reason why the atmosphere has been in the corner and not behind the goal at the CBS in the last 15 years.

Are you suggesting that everyone in the corner is more interested in the away fans than supporting the team?
I don't think I used the word "everyone", did I?

How many times this season would we have sold 26,500 home fans this season. Today and Leicester? Maybe Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day? Realistically we need to have it as an option for home fans but for most of the season, we should sell it to home fans.

Take Birmingham at home. 26,700 there. Had we sold home tickets behind the goal, we'd have missed out on an additional 2500 away sales.

Sheff Wed
Leicester
Swansea
Cardiff
Leeds

So that’s 5 games so far.

How many times has away support exceeded 2500?

If we don't get promoted why would we get more next season ?
This season's jump in season tickets was down to the notable improvement on the pitch and play offs. The fans responded.
I'm not suggesting support will drop off , but we punched above our weight last season and it's a tough gig to replicate that again.
Our fans are fickle. If we have plateaued I doubt we'll see increased gates unless there is some kind of ticket deal on offer.
Or we go up. Then it's a sell out.

Because attendances are growing.

We’re in a Cup semi final

Most of us believe next season we have a serious chance.

Our fans aren’t fickle. They are the same as 90% of other clubs.

Yeah, agree, wouldn't have hurt Jesus to start a few on a day like today. He should be grateful he's back!

Next season people will be able to buy STs there though so it should sort itself out. It’s about proving the concept and a bit of extra cash right now really.

Exactly that. Next season it will be the singing area. An extension of the corner.

It’s foolish to not try and nurture new support when the capacity is there.

Constantly offering 4k out to away teams is just nurturing their support. We’re using our ground to make our opponents stronger

It's not going to.be open every game next year so they won't put it up for season tickets

Corner needs to move into the south stand (unfortunately they don't seem to want to) or the away fans need to be in 13-11 (which the set up doesn't seem to be able to handle.

Stadium has always been arse about face. Casino entrance and player entrance should be the other way around then away fans in that far corner with the sun in their eyes. That also allows away coaches to get straight away and majority of home fans to leave towards Tesco/Holbrooks before away fans get around before visitors mix meaning no need for overzealous policing/fencing.

It would also be foolish to give the likes of Birmingham, Leicester, Wednesday and even Leeds 2500 if there is only going to be 23,000 home fans.

It's a tough balance because we all want the seats open for fans when we require them but we don't want it to damage the atmosphere.

The way for it not to damage the atmosphere though is to open it for season ticket holders. That way everyone can sit in an area that suits them.

The money lost from away fans is something that has to be sacrificed for the long term benefit of the club

Got to say, this guy does some great stuff for the atmosphere at times but comes across as a right whiny bitch on Twitter.

The drum 100% makes the overall atmosphere worse and he's sort of admitting it here.

He thinks the atmosphere is shit because nobody but him starts the songs. What actually happens is that whenever anybody starts a song it isn't as loud as the drum so people just go along with whatever is drummed and eventually people stop trying and people rely on the drum. It centralises the atmosphere instead of allowing it to pop up organically.

If there is genuine demand, I would love to move over.

What wouldn't be great is a situation like the Preston ground where there's 10,000 empty seats scattered around.

The longer term aim will see the noisy fans in the South Stand but I'm not quite sure we are there yet.

Could we make that area safe standing and first dibs on season tickets there go to blocks 14 to 16? Then close off the top half of the corner and only open it when needed. That way we just move the atmosphere round a bit and when we need more tickets you're opening the other side of the singing which hopefully will become an extension of it in the way 17 & 18 have a bit.

Second paragraph is right but the drum definitely helps the atmosphere.

There's plenty of games away from home where we've missed the drum. I thought the atmosphere at Huddersfield was pretty poor. Lacked the consistency you get from having the drum.

We’re nowhere near that yet, but it has to start from somewhere.

This season is just about getting the logistics and safety of it right
