Also @shmmeee I thought ayari tried harder second half. Was he good at pressing? Not particularly, but I thought you could see him trying to do what was needed.

Speak for yourself, I always write to my parents about the scoring records of random championship strikers, past and present.

He didn't need too at that point. He took ball and won a corner . Later he countered and took a shot. Stop acting like he did fuck all when he came on.

Your actually annoyed he scored. This is crazy
That counter and shot was probably the worst piece of football of the entire game.

It was nothing more than a back pass to the keeper who was able to launch it straight down the pitch and put us under pressure again.

If he'd of had the intelligence to go to the corner flag, he could of taken up some much needed time and maybe won a corner or throw in that would of relieved the pressure and seen the game out.

I guess we must give him more game time to see if he turns into Harry fucking Kane or something equally miraculous.

Or if you just polish that turd a little longer .. .
Or polish 2 turds together .....

Another player with a very mediocre record yet seemed to always score against us. That club is probably bigger than we'd like it to be.

He has been near starting line up already though.

I don't disagree with your point btw. Just don't think wright doesn't try to press because didn't make the fan pleasing run at keeper press.

I'll keep an eye on it next time he gets on the pitch though.

He's a long way from what Robins would want, I think it's just a learning curve, as someone else said, they've watched videos of him playing in Turkey and it wasn't expected of him there.

Yeah it's a learning curve for sure. I'm not syaing he's a great presser. Robins wil be trying to improve him and Simms every session. I just don't agree that he came on and watched the game go by that's all.

Would add I don’t think it’s laziness, just a major lack of confidence which manifests as weak shots at goal, non-committal runs etc.

The shot at the end was very disappointing, especially in front of 20,000 people who watched us concede at the death last week.

If you are going to take the shot on at least hammer it so there’s no way the keeper is holding it.

Ya the shot was shite. Bit had he hit it really well and it's a goal or keeper saves it for corner etc then it's not an issue. Imo it was worth a shot. He just hit it poorly. But don't think it was dumb decision making. It was a good chance.

It's decent , last season you'd be the 10th highest scorer in the league

TBF, 13 in 40 is very good, but the record across his career is poor for a forward IMO. Also Wright could well be on 13+ goals after 40 championship appearances, although he's not being given much game time to achieve it. He has 2 in equivalent 5 matches at the moment.

Robins will want wright to close down and work tirelessly , Jesus christ we tell our u12 girls team to press and work hard so it's a given that mark robins , who has everybody else doing it is asking the same from his professional outfit
Yes until Wright, Simms and Ayari start doing this they are not going to start every match.

Yes he's trying hard, but he wasn't what was really needed when Kelly went off (not his fault of course) we are down to the bare bones.
He couldn't get into the game in the first half, and his lack of tackling ability (like Allen) didn't help when we were under the cosh. But fair play for creating the shooting chance that resulted in the goal.

In the end he did OK, and there's enough there to think he'll be a very good player.

I thought people would be pretty positive on here about his contribution last night, finding some of the comments a bit baffling.
I'm happy he scored .. but it was concerning to see him look genuinely shattered after playing a whopping 24 minutes

I am not sure he was shattered. I think he doesn't know where and when to run to shut down the opposition. Provided he has the motivation I think he will get there. I think the same applies to Simms.

He's clearly a hold-up guy. Why would you need a hold-up guy? It would make sense if you have a top midfield, best in league, with guys running onto the ball. This could have been us, but for various reasons just is not at the moment. A lot of forum members thought more midfield strengthening was needed in the transfer window after Hamer left; many still think this has to happen and have hopes for January or even next transfer window (Ayari is a one-year loan). If the midfield gets transformed for the better, Wright's play might make some sense for us, and if it combines with form, confidence, development of the player... Let's not Wright him off. Long build up for small pun there.

For someone who’s banging on about intelligence, you’re the one who doesn’t know the difference between HAVE & OF

I think it's becoming clear that a few posters have firmly nailed their flag to the 'two useless donkeys' mast.
From that position they cannot bring themselves to admit they might be wrong.

Could have been emotion, the lack of goal seemed to be weighing quite heavy on him in previous appearances.

They don't both need to chase the keeper down. Your just doing what u always do. Convince yourself he's not good and lazy etc because you said it and now need to stick to it.
Fuck me your fucking delusional. I admit it's a very small improvement for a 7 7M striker. But jeez clutching at straws.

You honestly think hes busting hes a gut fir his 20 min cameos?
