Coventry City have signed James Bailey on a three-month loan deal from Derby County.

The 23-year-old, who joined the Rams in May 2010 from Crewe Alexandra, can play in midfield or at right-back.

He is the fourth addition to the squad since Mark Robins took over as manager last Wednesday.

The Sky Blues manager said: “I am very pleased that we have been able to bring James to the club.

“He has a lot of qualities and we believe he will be a good addition for us as he can play in a couple of positions and is a very good passer of the ball.

“Not only that, he will put his foot in and will land on second balls too. I’ve seen a lot of him over the past 18 months to two years and we are looking forward to working with him.”

Bailey, who will be available for tomorrow night’s Capital One Cup tie with Arsenal, started his career with Crewe and made his debut as a 19-year-old.

He made more than 50 first team appearances for Crewe before being snapped up by Derby, where he has chalked up 62 appearances in two seasons, winning their Young Player of the Season award in 2010/11.

Yes - anyone criticising Daniels or any other players under the age of 22/23 is bang out of order. They are kids.

He was highly rated at Derby so on the surface look like it could be a good move. Had some kind of ankle break about a year ago but hopefully that's all behind him.

I hope Robins has got his eye on some decent central defenders as we need that area sorting but pleased he's getting things moving quickly as this current squad is clearly not good enough without the additions and getting rid of a few.

Bit harsh on Daniels, he only turned 18 a couple of months ago. It's not his fault he's was played when he's not ready for the first team.

If they are good enough age doesn't matter, Daniels isn't good enough and when compared to Thomas, Christie, Cameron, Willis and Jeffers who all offer something and can have an impact on a game this is clear to see. More Adam Walker than Gael Bigirimana

to be fair i think this could be a great signing, played alot of games in and around L1. i wonder if he is a wide right midfielder?

Judging by my Derby mate, he is CMid or Right back, he said he's not too bad either. He did say to me Callum Ball was crap so he'll be half right.

Decent signing this.

We've got a pretty large squad now though, there's going to be plenty of people getting left out.

Sounds as if he will be playing centre mid to me, I think we could see some people sent out on loan in the near future

Does anyone know when the loan window closes and the maximum number of players we can have on loan at one time in the match squad

I think its five domestic loans, international loans don't count. I could be wrong

What is the point of this? We are wasting more and more wages on a player we dont need. We've got right backs. We've got midfielders. Its not the amount of players we need to work on. Its about getting the best out of the players we have

This guy is better than a lot of our midfielders though, so that makes it a good signing. Remember we had to play Daniels in central midfield on Saturday and Jennings went off injured.

I'm worried about the lack of space in the squad for the new Loan Strikers that we need. Surely we could do with 2? That would make 4 decent strikers in 2 loans, Mcgoldrick and Cody?

Have you not been watching?

The squad we have is not good enough and the guy is bringing in players he believes will make us better. Obviously there comes a point when we will have to get rid of some to balance the wage budget but give the guy a chance. If you thought he was going to come in a somehow get this lot playing miles better then you were dreaming. He will get some of them playing better for sure but there are too many in this squad who clearly are not made of the right stuff to do well for us.

For sure he now has enough midfielders to get something decent and for me he still needs defo 1 more striker but more important for me is the centre of defence which is giving goals away every game. If we are solid at the back and don't concede at least we'll get a point which is a good place to start. We haven't kept a single clean sheet yet.

I don't think we'll sign another striker. We already have McGoldrick, Cody, Elliott, Ball (plus ROD, Macca, Jeffers).

Unless we send Ball back I can't see us doing much up front. Maybe we'll get rid of ROD and that might free up a bit of wages.

As many as we can get until he gets the right balance in the squad...then get rid of those that dont fit. Right decision in my eyes!

We've got Fleck, Thomas, Barton, Jennings, Kilbane can play in midfield, Hnederson, Moussa. How many do we need?

Jennings = good,
Fleck = not doing much yet so still poor at present,
Barton = Poor,
Kilbane = dead,
Moussa = Will be good,
Henderson = Jennings cover now he's injured and no idea what he's like (Saturday didn't impress me much),
Bailey = Centre mid and will be our best midfielder
Baker (you missed one) = good on his day just needs to be on his day more often

Midfield for me Jennings holding, Moussa left, Bailey centre and Baker right.

You can list as many as you like but we haven't won a game yet so things have to change. Is it that hard to understand?

this is not a wasted loan,we need players like this,we get over run in midfield too much, were not a nasty team at all, only ther play who can supposdly win in a midfield dog fight is jennings so i welcome bailey with open arms.

Extra wages spent on new players could pay the dividends as it creates more competition in the squad. I can't believe people complaining about signing new players when its all people have been literally screaming for for the past 15 months!

Some are never happy!

How is Fleck "Poor at present" yet the other unknowns "Will be good"

Bias or what!!
