Shall we compare walker & Baka at league 2,1 & champ level ? It’s not rocket science why walker is picked by robins
Okay, so go back and re read my origional post you responded to....
Please point out within that post anywhere I pointed out that Baka would come on and score? Where i said he would/could/has/will score more goals EVER than Walker? Point out where ive said Baka was our saviour?

Im going purely on last night and last nights performances. Walker was nowhere to be seen for 85mins. The defence and Kelly were just hoofing the ball forward and Boro were a big strong team that seemed to bully us and win every single header. Based on that I said if we're gonna have a striker on the pitch that isn't going to score (between Walker and Baka) you might aswell have one that MIGHT win a few aerial battles since we were so adamant of fucking hoofing the ball forward all game.
Would Baka of scored? Most probably not, no!
Would he have been a better physical presence and won more hoof balls forward than Walker? Absofuckinglutely yes!

Walker isn’t a target man tho ? Watch his clips it’s all in the box work well 90% of his goals are all from service we don’t use him correct he’s not that type of striker to be hoofing balls up against big strong defenders he’s a natural goal scorer

I thought Walker was really good for the first 20 minutes then disappeared. He just isn't giving us enough at the minute.

You can see why he didn't manage to breakthrough at Forest, he is work in progress and we definitely need to bring in someone better in th0 summer so we can continue to develop him.

He has more ability than Biamou, but doesn't add much to our general play, and we aren't good enough to carry someone. He can score goals but he's not even getting the opportunities at minute.

We need a fit Godden back ASAP.

Walkers gets pushed off the ball far to easily for me, he’s got no fight in him when we really need it, another example to me of a player who got into the game because his dad was a good player.

He's just come back from injury and been thrown into 2 games a week. He looks knackered. Let's not expect Godden to come back and be at full match fitness straight away.

To be honest, I don't think the international break can come soon enough at the moment. Players in general need the rest. Disadvantage of having such a small squad.

They need a rest mate but robins don’t even make changes last night with such a big game coming sat

We know Max isn't very good but at least he shows and can hold the ball up. Walker is marked out of games far too easy at this level. He hid last night .

Hold the ball up?

You mean fight for a 50:50 he created with his poor touch, then either lamely run into a defender and give the ball away or dribble it away from goal and do a wayward pass to the back line?

He's our top scorer. How has he done that if he's some charlatan living off the back of Des? Let's not even bring up the goals he's scored elsewhere. You are talking nonsense here.

I disagree with that. He's clearly worked extremely hard to get fit during the last few weeks and whilst it might take him 3-4 games to get match sharp, I think there'll be enough fixtures left for him to have a positive contribution.

We did the same with JCH and look at him if we play to Walkers strengths he would easy get 15 goals

Godden also has had games where he's hardly influenced anything and barely had a sniff and been caught offside far too often. However he's not called out for being lazy, he's evolved into Sergio Aguero while he's been out injured apparently.
And he gets better with each passing week of dismal displays by his colleagues

Godden is a presence in the box no matter what, something Biamou struggles with. Even the own goal the defender got their first

Exactly, whilst he tries hard the reality is that what Biamou offers is very limited. I believe the commentator said it last night - 2 goals in 19 apps and 3 in 27 is it? Regardless of the specific role that Biamou plays that's an appalling record.

So when Godden does come back, and presumably he’s paired with Walker, who is the target for our long outlet balls? Or do we go back to playing it out from the back instead?

The walker Max partnership is a little bit odd.

When they play together they dont appear to know who is suppose to be in what position.

Max was drifting out to the wing that then leaves Walker with multiple defenders around him.

I think the issue with Walker is just frustration as cant play as he wants. As isn't getting the service to the feet.

It would be OK if he were an effective foil for another striker, and / or allowed the midfielders to break forward from him.

Biamou has done a job, he merits his place while everyone else is injured, and I can't help but admire the way he keeps coming back from being written off. Given, ultimately, his job is to score goals however, it'd be nice if he showed some kind of forward's instinct.

Maybe get him the ball in the box and let’s see how he does. I don’t have any interest in him running around leave that to less talented players like Biamou

I don't think he's necessarily bad at the role he plays. In fact at times he's shown what he does can be effective. But his instinct in front of goal is bordering on the comical at times and has let us down on a number of occasions. Equally, I often question whether he makes the correct decisions with the ball.

I don't think it benefits Walker being partnered with him either. He often finds himself in strange positions with the ball which leaves Walker completely isolated, and himself surrounded so he'll have no choice but to pass back or lose the ball completely.

As another poster said last night he often drifted wide and Walker was left with 3/4 Middlesbrough players surrounding him. Biamou's ability to hold up the ball is all well and good but unless he brings others into play consistently it's useless, and only serves to disrupt the formation or stop an attack in its tracks.

Yeah, with Biamou I see a player who is ultimately completely inexperienced at this level. Where he is unlucky in a way is that he's heading for 31 rather than 21, so unless he plays until he's 37,38, he's got limited room to develop sufficiently and improve enough in his positioning, touch, awareness.

It's a shame in a way, because he *has* improved and, as you say, he can play a certain role. But he all-too often shows his background of an amateur making the most of his natural ability.

You make some good points but there is no way that someone at 30 is all of a sudden going to develop a good touch. He's been playing professionally for years and it is still horrific. He could play until he's 48 and that isn't going to improve
