What’s your definition of breaking up play?
Kelly - tackles 1.2 per 90, interceptions 1.5 per 90
Sheaf - tackles 2.0 per 90, interceptions 0.8 per 90
So turnovers per 90 minutes, Sheaf breaks up play more than Kelly.

That interception difference is quite big really, shows how effective Kelly’s positioning is. You’d much rather a player intercepting than tackling.

I like Sheaf, he’s another who will fall victim to fan hate as he doesn’t try hollywood balls like Hamer or run with the ball like O’Hare.
He’s an understated player who keeps the ball moving and has a good range of passing.
A big factor that hasn’t been mentioned yet (and this applies to more than just Sheaf), is the impact the players around you have. If they aren’t capable of making the right runs, moving into space, receiving the ball in tight positions, then that really limits your options as a ball playing midfielder. Sheaf has definitely been a victim of that at times this season.
Like Kelly his style is quite ponderous on the ball, which perhaps gives the wrong impression he isn’t bothered or he’s too slow on the ball.
He makes the odd mistake now, but that will go with time. I agree with a previous post; he isn’t going to come on and win you the game, but he can be a very influential player with the wrong people around him and more experience.

All you can say at this stage is MR has chosen a line-up that agrees with what you would do. That doesn't necessarily mean it's the right one. We won't know that for another three hours.
Someone like Pep may have played a completely different one were he manager of our team. Would you therefore claim he didn't know what he was doing?
