I'd like us to go for Gnaduilliett but there seems to be a lot of other sides interested in him so like the sad act that I am I was thinking of plausible options of signings.
A lot of people on here really liked the look of Will Keane when he played against us for Ipswich last season, he is currently at Wigan but only on a contract till early January, now I know he's not got the greatest of scoring records but his link up play is good and he would cost very little as a short term option.
The other name I came up with was Connor Wickham from Palace, hasn't played much first team football recently but did have a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday last season, skilful striker but also big and powerful. I've no idea what his injury status is or even if he would be available, it's just a name im throwing out there.
I await ridicule from people who will say I've no idea what I'm talking about and that we should sign a £2million pound striker with the money of Joy's hand bag ebay account!

Looks like Wickham is out for another month:Report: Injury ruined Crystal Palace man’s summer exit; now faces three months out – HITC

Just poking around the free agents on Transfermarkt. Slim pickings!

Nobody jumps out that looks a realistic target.

Still think Andre Green would be a decent pick up for the future. Was a proper prospect that was hampered by injuries, played most England youth levels and 40 time for Villa

Few players who have championship experience currently out of contract but probably not realistic :
Omar Niasse
Ahmed Musa (might have a house in the Midlands!)
Yaya Sanogo (not played in a while and a bit of a Baka)
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (not a striker and loads of baggage but would be a great player)

OOh an Cody Mcdonald is available 😀

Re: JCH, obviously there’s issues with him has been off-loaded from here twice and I know he was well regarded as a youth, shame really because he certainly knows where the net is.
He was very disappointing here apart from two games Brighton and Sunderland

What about Sidney van Hooiydonk from Breda in Holland. Apparently free to overseas clubs in Jan. Brexit rules may make it a no go though. Just a thought. Was linked with forest, Swansea and Sheff Wed .

Another reason why we need to strengthen
My in laws support West Brom, I’ve watched him a few times. If were worried about James not finishing a game for Barnsley we’d be terrified of this bloke.

told my bro in law when he signed that’s a great signing, but his legs have gone. Its a shame because I rated Austin

Watched some of the Jephcott kid from Plymouth today while bored and I don't think he's what we need. From what I can tell he's a pure fox-in-the-box striker. Doesn't get involved in link-up play, doesn't seem to have any real pace or ability to win headers. Quality first-time finisher but I have real doubts he could play up front alone and impose himself against Championship centre-backs.
A “fox in the box” striker is exactly what we do need.

No I wasn’t, where have I said that ? the title of this thread is Striker ? and various ones have been mentioned and discussed and seems well rated and possibly available nothing more than that it’s called discussion, has been linked with Swansea and even Liverpool so we won’t be getting him.

We should be trying to tempt the best players from league 1. Talking about this and next transfer window.

A player I rate very highly ( although hes not a striker) would be a success in the championship scores 10 to 15 goals a season. Irish international Ronan Curtis from Portsmouth. No chance of getting him or affording him now...But.

Get rid of Allen/Shipley/kastaneer/Giles/Baka
Massive improvement on these.

And use the wages on him. Would cost about £2m if Portsmouth don't get promoted. Go all out and buy him. Signings like this would be marquee signing. Hamer this year £ 1.5m...Why not next year Curtis at about £2m. There would be lots of competition like the sane for Armand.

He's got potential to be the next Bradley Dack to go from league 1 to Championship.

Agree that Curtis would be quality but I suspect Pompey would want more than £2mil. This is a club that spent £2mil on John Marquis.

We don't play with wingers so blowing the budget on one seems silly.

Wickham is like Dwight Gayle good Championship striker but not good enough for the prem if there was a league in the middle he would be there

He would play in the same position as Shipley does or left sided attacking box.. Can play just behind too. And the guy scores more goals than most strikers, and ail kinds and types of goals.

Regardless who we sign max will start next week we could sign Harry Kane robins will leave him on the bench till the 70th min 😁

If we sign a striker it will be a loan. It means we would have to rotate some of the other loans around the matchday squad. Not impossible and may help some players not get too tired.
