ps waiting for various people to crunch numbers of new employment scheme but despite some negative comments on here, seen positive responses from TUC and CBI. No scheme is going to be without it’s faults but hopefully it will help keep large numbers borderline redundancies in work. As already mentioned on here though, one major issue is elements of hospitality that can’t operate at all (due to government measures) such as nightclubs and theatres, don’t appear to be getting any help....hope this is to follow.

The TUC say it's a step in the right direction but not enough.

How is a scheme were the government cuts the amount it helps out by from 80% to 22% going to stop redundancies? It's simply not

Let me guess you voted remain...

The death toll is only so high because we record deaths diffrent to everywhere bar America, give it a few years after the virus has cleared and it will come out the true statistics.

He has broken most of his Brexit promises, if I were a Leave voter I wouldn't be happy either. If you're going to defend his record now I guess you always will. Funny thing is though while you call me out on voting Remain I did also vote to keep the union together in 2014 and this clown has made it nearly a certainty that Scotland, NI or both will be gone before the decade's up.

His shit handling of COVID and Brexit have made that happen. If I were a Union Jack waver I'd consider that next time I'm in the polling booth

Facts, if China didn't lie the world would of been alot better prepared, w of who actually looked into the evidence they were given back in October 2019 the world would of been much better prepared.

We're an island nation, had more than enough advance warning and still got the worst death toll in Europe. Your response is to then say the data is false and it's China's fault. Look at New Zealand for how much better we could've done-far from praising Johnson the twat should be on trial for how badly he's done this year. Even Dom smelled the coffee

The island nation is a red herring when comparing to New Zealand. You fly to New Zealand you stay - we are a huge hub travel area. Also we are reliant on constant imports and still allow eu freedom of movement.

The furlough scheme was set up so businesses would retain staff to ensure a quick bounce back from the lockdown. There isn’t currently a lockdown so for example pubs and restaurants can operate, albeit under certain measures.

There will be a lot of redundancies, no doubt about it, I suppose the question being weighed up is would those redundancies happen anyway on 3-4 months if the full furlough scheme was still in place

Although there are other assistance measures, I’d like to see a couple of sector specific ones for those that can’t operate due to the government restrictions

It's a massive advantage compared to most other countries on the continent though G. Greece did far better and is a financial wreck with far more islands to administer plus the land borders. We could easily have insisted on a quarantine for non-UK citizens-it's time we stopped making excuses for why we did a shit job and just admit we did a shit job. It cannot always just be somebody else's fault

The same new Zealand that has like 3x our land mass and only 15% our population. Move on.

Yes I would, because I'm not a dipshit, I understand what has happened to every single country around the world.

You're not meant to admit that bit. How was Greece able to keep deaths to 150 over the time where we racked up 40,000? Is that China's fault or the WHO?

What are the chances the #'s out of Greece have been reported the same way they have been in this country? Little story for you my aunt's dad died about 3 months ago from a heart attack after suffering for about 8 years with a heart condition can you guess what his cause of death was? Feel free to have a guess.

Bro I seen something from the dumbass conspiracy theorist the other day about pearl harbour if I can find it I will show you but honestly it's the funiest shit I've seen.
I was talking to a guy about maxwell after she was arrested. He turned and said if she starts talking, Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton will go to jail. They drink children's blood, cut of their faces and wear them while having sex, I said to him do you not realise that they are democrats and that is Republican bullshit? he said 'it's true, it's on YouTube' I walked away

Hahaha of course, the Greeks have had tens of thousands die from COVID and not reported it. You can't hide behind the excess death figures though, for this country they were horrendous-though of course there'll be another excuse on the way. Next you'll be telling me Hancock's done a decent job

Have you ever looked at a death certificate?

I think if Greece had tens of thousands dying instead of hundreds someone would have noticed. The way it's been handled in this country has been almost criminal but there's still reliable numpties like you defending it.

The amount of lefties on the page is ridiculous, like fuck would you have rather Jeremy corbyn in with that fat bitch Diane abbot?

As I've said I'm a Labour supporter but not when you have two thick fuckers running the party.

It’s also rather silly to compare the UK to Greece

I didn't want to vote last December, they were two really shit choices but as a public sector worker voting Tory makes no sense. But if you offered me the chance to have Starmer in charge for COVID over Johnson I'd immediately take it. He's at least got his head screwed on and would make an attempt to take the job seriously
