I mean my position has been for a while that any messing about inside Cov would be called out too and that’s why Sisu needed to put an app in and force their hand.

I’d also not expect other councils to view CCC how we on this forum do. There’s more solidarity between councils than you think.

That said, I never thought “council messing” was a serious prospect and still don’t. Just for those that do think that pointing out it’s still possible.

There isn't always agreement between Councils though, is there - the King's Hill development was pushed through against the wishes of Kenilworth and other councils.

If you don't think council messing is a possibility, then what the hell was going on when Coventry City Council got wind of a possible ground-share at the Butts, and tried to persuade the rugby club to sign a 'no professional football' covenant? The council isn't always a honest broker when it comes to the club, is it. Other examples of dishonesty are available... perhaps you've forgotten them...

Welcome that to be honest. Much better to have a bit of professionalism and just keep quiet and get on with the job. Any info will likely come from the club and / or uni, the council can just be left to get on with their job.

Still if no-one from the council involved will come on not sure its much help getting someone from another council on instead.

It depends if the other council want to try and do a bit of PR ;)

But Warwick wouldnt be able to stop Sisu from pulling out if that’s the plan, they wouldn’t even be aware of it. Just like the architects and Garlick likely weren’t aware last time was a scam either.

Ultimately it still requires Sisu to want to see their end through. Sisu still haven’t invested anything but PR capital into the project. Until money changes hands really for me we aren’t any closer. Even if this plan sounds a lot more realistic than the last one. Long way to go yet.

Yeah about 5 years ;)

To be fair, he tried multiple times to say the Butts thing didn't happen or was a conspiracy.

Other example is Mr Haskell.

In terms of location, id argue this is even worse than the Ricoh..the transport links around there are overwhelmed already and the public transport is crap so the majority are going to have to go by car. Still, beggers cant be choosers
how exactly do you get to the Ricoh if not by car?

Hopefully they'll quickly see they're fighting a losing battle. Pretty sure Maton wouldn't have been expecting the response he got to his tweet.
Did anybody screenshot it or is it on here somewhere, he's taken it down

A long way to go, but it certainly *feels* different to announcements made previously. The presence of the University in the statement and the project adds a level of respectibility not present in any previous announcements about a new stadium.

What I find interesting in the statement is they've been very clear about the ownership of the new ground. If taken at face value, it's not going to be owned by SISU, although clearly, they're going to have to stump up a significant amount of cash to make this happen. Hopefully, they'll have access to other funding around the infrastructure and the amount of future debt we'll be servicing will be kept to a minimum.

There's a huge benefit to the Uni of having this on the Campus. Very 'sellable' to attract students and other businesses. If the new site includes a hotel and/or accomodation, conference facilities etc, it'll be a real help to them in invigorating the site.

Sounds positive from what I have briefly read and hopefully will be the new dawn we are looking for as a club.

2 negative points, time frame is concerning and I would like to see more definitive action, i.e confirmation of the land purchased etc, so we know it is 100% happening.

There's a train for about 10 people. As long as you didn't want to go to anything that was on in the first 10 or so years the stadium was open that would be fine!

Wasn't a travel plan part of the planning agreement that involved buses being run from all over the city. That soon got forgotten about.

Yep.

The timeline if you actually want to know and not post bullshit to get in with your mate was:

I’d switched off from the debate for a while because of the toxicity on here when someone disagrees with you. Came back into a thread.

I asked for proof CCC had been trying to fuck the club over (or similar).

Lots of insults and no proof for a few posts.

You or LG I think mentioned the email which I hadn’t heard of (as I’d switched off from the debate)

You did your performative dance like you’re doing now about me. Eventually posted an article about an internal email where someone had asked if the clause should be put in.

I said. “Is that it? An internal email, hardly proves what you say”.

You called me a council plant some more.

Time passed

You posted pure bullshit in this thread that I’d called it a conspiracy multiple times. Then threw in Haskell, god knows why, probably because if I ever don’t immediately know what you’re talking aboit from a vague post or miss a tiny piece of news you cream yourself about how I’m ignoring things.

Then I call you out, you go “really?”, I explain, you pick some minor point to argue until I get bored and wander off. You claim a win.

Rinse and repeat for something like six years.

You said something that happened (the council trying it on with the butts) didn't happen.

So yeah, you tried to claim things never happened. The same as the other "conspiracies".

I am just dealing in facts.

Anyway, the new "stadium".

Oh just bore off and have a lie down. Your narcissism holds no bounds.

Reply from Cllr Duggins who is always so polite when he replies and has helped me on more than one occasion with other council things as have his colleagues

Seems they were completely unaware

I have just become aware of the proposal.

We will deal with the issue of our statutory obligations as I have always maintained.

It will be interesting to see how this proposal unfolds.

Both my parents work at Warwick Uni, one in the accommodations management hub and the other in admissions. They both receive calls from new students standing at Warwick Parkway, lost because they can’t find the university nearby. It’s a new brand of stupid and ignorant if locals make that mistake also. Funny though.

Which will be interesting to hear who is on CWR when the head of planning went above and beyond those obligations for Wasps.

Should we get to that point I think it would be very wise for as many people as possible to contact their local representative urging support for any plans. Might fire in an email now anyway, won't do any harm to let them know the people they represent expect them not to do anything to block a new stadium application.

Trying to work out the business case from Warwicks end here though, why not just build and operate their own? Bringing in a supermarket makes sense when it’s outside money looking for locations. If Warwick want student housing on their own land there’s nothing stopping them.

I think it’s more that they could use the stadium and there’s sensible links in health and sports that work for both. They have the gold standard football management course there as well don’t they? Lots of reasons to bring in a sports team.
It never happened (yet!) so there's a warning from history, but Bristol Rovers were going into partnership with UWE. The general idea makes sense. Birmingham Uni have been trying to expand their leisure / sporting facilities too, albeit with non football club partners. Seems to be a thing for universities just atm.

Also, could potentially be a better scouting option for CCFC and other clubs?

Pompey are sponsored by the Uni of Portsmouth as well.

This is the most concrete development towards a new ground in years and should reassure the insects about not going after the Ricoh. I have a few questions along the lines of ‘who’s paying for it and how’ but for now, terrific news.

A regular train from the Uni to Cov, Leam and Kenilworth would be ideal for all.

Would be great if you could get the Manchester to Bournemouth line stopping at any future station. Would allow for services from the north and Birmingham to stop.
