Can’t argue they do deserve a chance. What about the rest of the side, where would you strengthen?
Obviously midfielders to replace the loanees, back up right wing back and a left wing back. I think we need a bit more power up front too but we'll have to prioritise I think.

How big an advantage do we think it is that League 1 has finished a month before the Championship? Must give us a huge head start over other teams, but then I guess players won't want to commit either until all leagues are finished.

What will be a bit weird is that come the start of the new season our players won't have played for six months. The Championship clubs will have had a very different preparation to us and who knows how the preseasons will compare.

Could go either way. We won't have played competitive football for nearly 6 months when the season starts.

The rested players is one aspect, but also you could argue we have a head start in the transfer market. We know what league we are in and are able to scout players earlier than other clubs.

I think a fair bit depends on when exactly the new season kicks off, when fans are allowed back in and our ability to resolve the ground situation since this will heavily influence ticket sales and therefore spending ability. Just need to make sure our pre season is a bit more gruelling to get them sharp for the restart.

Right now I'd be happy if we kept the whole squad together.

Plus the permanent signing of.
O'Hare
Hamer
Decosta

And a couple of good loans from the prem, including a striker.

a loan striker we could look at is Brewster jk
We should probs go for one of those players at like Liverpool or Man City on loan because they wont get in their sides

I'm a bit wary of taking on the better known youngsters from these sides because you do worry they'll have a Bertie Big Bollocks attitude and/or a little bit of a media circus following him around because he's been held in high regard for a while and expected to go on. That's not aimed at Brewster specifically (I've never heard of any problems with him) and i reckon Liverpool would be looking to loan him out to a lower Prem team if possible.

I would imagine we would have pretty good odds on first Dibs at the Chelsea academy. they are known for loaning out youngsters.

not sure there will be many left in their system that AV actually coached but his stock there is still very high and that can only work in our favour
I think maybe we are past the stage of taking prem youngsters. We could get away with it in L1 and L2 but for next year, I wouldn't be too happy to be taking "punts" on untried kids.

Conor Gallagher was a "punt" and he's the only reason Charlton haven't already been relegated.

At this level Chelsea were happy to send Tammy Abraham to Villa one season ago. Also Nketiah was at Leeds earlier this season.

Yep it’s unfair to say our signings were punts, they were considered and managed and the most effective you would have dreamed of

Walsh
Ohare

The only one that didn’t work was Giles and I would put this down as a punt

Tough one on Prem loans. Usually I’d say waste of money given the choice between say a Hamer style signing and the same fee on a loan for a season. But when we’ve just come up that little bit more “instant success” sure is tempting. Goals will be the real hard one to come by, if there’s some kid tearing up the Prem U23s Id be tempted to splash out for this season.

I’d imagine we were second on the list for prem kids - now we’re championship we’ve moved up a notch. We’ll probably be able to pick up the better prem kids. I’m sure we’d take any players that are upgrades on the likes of Dabo

Just 2 or 3 sensible signings will do.

Give this current squad a good crack chance first at that level. They deserve it.
The players confidence will be sky high and I believe it will be a more level playing field this season.

Robins knows there's a few that will hopefully surprise and thrive at that level.

Some written off players at league 1/2 level will do well in championship.

Remember Biamou is not even league 2 quality/standard.

Just to warn you, most of the big boys charge large loan fees for their youngsters nowadays with clauses put in stating they must play. If they're crap, you either pay the penalty clause or play them anyway.
An example, we had agreed a 7 figure loan fee with Arsenal for Nketia, before he turned us down to go to Leeds.

One of the reasons I want squad caps. Big clubs get to hoard players thus preventing smaller clubs improving yet at the same time can loan them out for massive fees to someone else who has to take the risk in smoothing the rough edges off while also paying for the privilege. Then if they make it they've made millions on a player they get to keep as a finished product or get rid of unsuccessful ones but get the equivalent of 2 or 3 transfer fees for them beforehand.

It's a racket.
