I think that's why Johnson said yesterday that he's been banned from making announcements and deadlines.

He blurts out these stupid promises on the spot when under pressure to deflect away from whatever he's being quizzed overt at the time, and it puts the government in an impossible position. So they've told him to keep his mouth shut.

Me for starters. Although I made that decision when May was PM this current shower have only cemented that I was right to readdress my political ideology.
