But going to work or to the supermarket are much more necessary tasks than going to a gig ffs!

Honestly I don't get why this is so hard to understand that large gatherings/crowds are not a good idea.

Just been speaking to someone far more intelligent than me (and defo not a Johnson fan) who said actually the psychology around this is quite interesting. By not formally banning certain behaviours you almost hope to get the individual make the decision (and buy into the process by the time you might need to ban) thereby hopefully keeping more people onboard for longer.

Id not really considered this but kind of makes sense I suppose...think about the reaction last week as to why we weren’t already stopping/banning certain things such as public gatherings, many were almost willing the government to undertake more draconian actions/steps.

Just thought I’d share the theory (feel free to ignore)

Which is grand, but who picks up the pieces of businesses going bust through having no custom for months? The airline industry or indeed railways? People going on statutory sick for extended spells?

The vast majority of us are not going to suffer from this disease. If those who are at risk are kept distanced but not forgotten then we minimise the economic damage.

It is interesting, not sure its right though.

Many decades ago now in my degree we studied the behaviour of people in disasters, particularly the Kings Cross & Bradford City fires- a lot of people died there because they were literally afraid of 'breaking the perceived rules' and going onto the tracks or just going onto the pitch etc, the power of compliance with pre-established 'rules' is very powerful no matter how dire the situation is. That was a different time though I guess, society moves on. Another pretty established fact is that in times of crisis people want to be led, they want to be strongly told what to do & what not to do. What we have here is someone appears to be someone saying "do what you want, but be careful, you're taking your chances". Maybe this is another clever experimental approach, who knows.

Queuing up outside Costco or Aldi with hundreds of others isn't necessary in the slightest either.

If you want selfish then have a look at those pricks. I will just keep going to the little shop round the corner which has toilet roll, handwash etc and is just going as normal with no fuss.

Still, if it makes me a mass murderer because I will still do stuff I enjoy and need to stay mentally and physically healthy (not the pub bit) then so be it.

I will leave people to be in their toilet roll castles.
