I really don’t know what the problem is. Coventry is in West Midlands Police area anyway, and sadly we won’t have 30,000 turning up every match. Except for when we play Man City and the glory boys come out to play.
Malc, i suspect it is down to how resources are allocated. Coventry is in a different divisional command to Birmingham, but i don't know where the matchday officers are based - they may all come from one giant Operational Support Unit based somewhere central. Anyone know?

Had a gas man over at the weekend, started talking football (he’s a Man U fan) and he mentioned he’s related to a member of the City coaching staff (won’t name names for obvious reasons). I asked about how he (the coach) feels about the stadium thing, he said everyone at the club is sick of it and try’s to ignore it as far as possible, that there’s a mentality of “fuck it, can’t do anything, let’s dig in and do our best”. Which I think speaks volumes for the quality of our coaching staff and their man management.
If they get that right then it’s just the ground and I think as shit as it is, St Andrews won’t be anywhere near as much of a turn off as Sixfields to players.
Depends who the competitions from I suppose. Man City? Then we've no chance. Bury or Bolton? At least we'll pay their wages on time! Peterborough or Doncaster? Then I suppose it depends on who the player thinks his best chance of promotion etc is with. But as we've already taken one of their GKs I'd say Robins ain't doing that bad.

Because it is in Birmingham. The stadium itself in isolation is no worse.
Although saying that I've only been there twice and both times I was smashed so can't really remember it.
Its more to do with rival rans arriving at new street together than Blues and Villa themselves, I'm guessing most prem teams bring 2000 plus to Villa. There may be some smaller travelling teams in league 1, but they will all be getting on and off trains at New street, as will some Cov fans. potential trouble that will be avoided by moving our games to Wednesday/Sundays.
Clearly, he doesn't want to be at the Ricoh anyway then. Wonder what his comments will be if a last minute deal to stay there is done?

Why? Not liking aspects of being at the Ricoh doesn't mean he won't want to be there, it's clearly just frustrating him. That speech has sold season tickets and further decreased public opinion on Wasps - which they will absolutely hate. If the storm Robins has whipped up makes them 1% more likely to drop their ridiculous conditions it was worth it and if not, well, it is likely to be a purely financial decision from both parties that leads us back to the Ricoh anyway, so his comments will quickly be forgotten.

You really think it has sold tickets? You think anyone has changed their mind based on it? I doubt it tbh, those buying would have bought anyway.
I don't think anything he says will have an effect on the Ricoh situation, those decisions are way beyond him.
I'm sure his comments will be quickly forgotten if we do stay at the Ricoh, but it does make him look a bit of a mug if he has to now say "we wanted to be here all the time, and glad it's been sorted..."
I think players will tend to go to the club that's paying the most money first, and then where they think they've got the best chance of getting in the first team next.
If all those things are equal, which I doubt they often are, then somewhere, way down the list of concerns will be 'what ground do they play at', and even that'll probably be below 'where is the training ground'.
