I've liked what I've seen of McCallum so far. Remember when he came on I was shitting it but he did well.

Will be a big test for him today.

I liked brown and thought he’s been good when he’s played , one of our better players even. I remember early in the season there was talk of unrest and bad influence in the dressing room which wasn’t there last season. Maybe it’s been him or ogogo as neither are getting a look in at all.

Would it be utterly, totally ludicrous to suggest we take on Cody McDonald on a "pay as you play" deal until the summer? He's a free agent after being released by Wimbledon in the summer, only 32.

We could do worse, couldn't we?????...........couldn't we??

I'd like us to try and sign Gary Hooper on loan from Sheffield Wednesday.

If I told you we would need to pay Ebbsfleet in the National league for his services would that help change your mind?

Macauley Bonne with a bit of luck if we’re continuing the route of investing for next year and the future.
If not and we’re going for proven quality now a enquiry for Leon Clarke would be my punt.

The only time I have ever had info from the horse's mouth, ahem ...
The striker we are hoping to bring in now would excite the fans and give a real chance of climbing the table this season. The fly in the ointment is that it is dependent for now on Callum Wilson moving in this window.
That's what I heard. Don't know any more. Could be bull, of course so don't shoot.

It's Joe Nuttall from Blackburn apparently. Information has come from within a staff member at Ryton (I believe he is social media or some other area) provided to me by my close friend.
I don't believe it until it is on Sky Sports with a yellow banner scrolling across the bottom of the screen...however every single bit of "information" provided in the summer via this route was correct. I found this out on Sunday evening so only time will tell.

Is this the loan or the one we are buying? I'd say it's more likely he is the loan option.

Loan option, probably should have mentioned that up top.

Hard to say without seeing him but not that inspiring, even less experience than Bright and Ponticelli. He's the type of player you would think we would sign to then sell on.

Bit of a shame, but if he wants more game time then he has every right to go. You only get one chance at making the most of your career after all!

He joined us as he wasn't playing at Portsmouth
He was doing well for us and playing regularly until he got injured and Hyam stepped in
He hasn't been able to force his way back so finds himself in the same situation as at Portsmouth
Hyam has done well so as you say it's a shame for Davies but football is a pretty ruthless business and we'd all rather have players who care and want to play rather than just pick up their money

IMO the Willis/Hyam duo is irreplaceable. Both are excellent at this level and it would be a real coup if we managed to extend Willis' deal as well as fend off admirers of Hyam this summer. No shame in Davies not being able to force his way through to the starting XI with those two ahead of him in the pecking order. Probably up there with one of the best defensive partnerships in the league. If he is to go he'll definitely be well remembered.

It's a big decision to let him go because he's a first team player, slots in if either the other two get injured. I don't know how we'd replace him with similar quality unless Robins has another good youth prospect lined up or thinks Thompson is adequate cover. Imagine Willis or Hyam getting injured the day after he left, we'd be kicking ourselves.

Yeah a shame. But fair assessment of his character. I'd much rather for him fight for his spot, maybe play through injuries and avoid suspensions. He'll have 15 clubs in his career if he aint careful.

There is definitely a risk of that. I think that'll boil down to whether he wants to play at the highest level possible or whether he wants to play regularly. Realistically, his level is probably League One but he'd easily be able to play week in week out in League Two. I doubt he'd have to take a reduction on wages if he were to drop down a league as I'm sure there would be several clubs who could pay his current salary.

Valid point though. But maybe at 26 he's got the jitters and feels time is getting away with itself.

Trouble with Davies is that he comes across as a bit hotheaded and can react, so it's almost only a matter of time before he ends up suspended and someone comes in and potentially takes his place if they perform well. He's good at what he does but having a solid player at this level who can just kick and head clear isn't totally irreplaceable, whereas with Willis and Hyam you do feel they've got something that would be harder to replace. You do feel he'll spend quite a lot of his career as an solidly reliable replacement to come in for an injured first teamer.

Yes I agree, was watching an u23 game he was coming back from injury I think.Just in front of me, he took out one of their players and as he was on the floor leant over him and said do that again and i'll break your fucking neck, obviously a bit of afters from an earlier challenge. The ref booked him for the tackle, but didn't hear what was said.I do like his style but yeah too hotheaded.

It cost him ultimately as he missed potentially playing at Wembley because of it. I like him but he struggles with players getting in behind.
