ideal opportunity to experiment and try and get a formation that clicks.
Having said that, get a win and get a plum away tie in the next round and it will bring a nice little windfall into the club.

I'd bring Kelly in for Doyle if he's fit enough.

Would be nice to see if he will put two up top, strikers have been far too isolated the first two games.

Brown to start at left back too

which worries me because I thought Andrue would provide the link between the midfield and the forward(s).

Think good opportunity to give some players some game time who perhaps unfiraly have not started - this is side I hope we go with,

Burge
Grimmer
Davies
Willis
Brown
Kelly
Ogogo
Bayliss
Andreau
Ponticelli
JCH

Subs: O'Brien, Sterling, Mason, Hiwula, Shipley, Biamou, Bakayoko

Hope we go for this team. Would like to see JP and JCH given a chance to put pressure on new strikers and possibly stake a claim for Saturday.

Me and the lad have got our tickets so looking forward to this one. Our first win of the season i think. Would drop Doyle personally and bring in JB at left back. Also bring back Grimmer.

Maybe I'd leave Willis out a while longer to fully recover, and either stick with Hyam or consider giving Thompson a start, but otherwise that team would be fine by me

I know this is a bit twisted! But i wonder if we're all waiting for Andreu to get injured, so we can revert to a more familiar formation? Of course i don't want this to happen, but the apparent building of a frontline around him is leaving us (currently) a bit shy up top!

I've heard it all now

There is a consensus on here for Kelly and Brown to be in. Last year the consensus on here was sometimes quicker than Robins. I hope he is reading this
He should play the new strikers - they need to warm up a bit

So why not just hope robin's drops him.
Why wish a player gets injured after wishing for 10 months he'd be fit?!
Nowhere did I say i wished Andreu got injured, don't put words on my mouth. Perhaps i worded it wrong. Seems Andreu is our best player, but sacrificing shape and formation to fit him in doesn't seem to be working. This has been an issue in a lot of peoples minds for a while.

The problem is, if you're going to play a proper striker up front you can probably only play 3 of the following 4:

Ogogo, Bayliss, Andreu, Biamou.

We've got a lot of good players through the middle and they cannot all play. That's without mentioning Doyle, Kelly, or Shipley.

I'd argue to move forward we need to drop Biamou. I can't see where he can play in this team. Play on the floor football and go 4-1-4-1. Hiwula and Bakayoko were surely signed to score goals so they can fight it out for the strikers position. The two in front of Ogogo can thread balls through to the striker and play further up the pitch so he isn't isolated.

At the moment I can't see how the game plan is going to work. We have too many players in the middle and now an overload of strikes that need to prove themselves.

Tuesday is the perfect game to try and get this team sorted.

I just wonder if breaking up a team with such team spirit was a smart move. Maybe play him up with Biamou instead of Hiwula.

No pace at all with that - though not saying it wouldn't work. Would really need our full backs attacking. I think he will rest either Bayliss or Andreu (Andreu has been out a long time, so don't make him play unnecessary midweek games). Bring back Shipley (who you would think would want to bust a gut to get back in contention) Similarly Grimmer. Interesting, but with competition for places high the players should be up for it - even though I suspect we may still look disjointed. We will be better for the Plymouth game, though.

Biamou and Andreu have zero pace

Well I would imagine there will be a few changes, maybe Addai in goal, young Thomson/Thompson Ponticelli Grimmer Brown, Allesani if fit, Shipley the lad from Tamworth, Westbrooke hopefully Kelly and Biamou or JCH think thats about 11 not sure how many we have to have playing from yesterdays match day squad

Given how the team has struggled I would be pissed off if he sent out a random side with loads of changes. he has to have the next few league games in mind. So Kelly, Brown and Grimmer - none of whom have started yet should come in. I would try to keep the new strikers in at the start, just to give them a chance.

He will make changes for sure. 4 or 5 I suspect and use this game to try different combinations and perhaps a different system.
But I really don't want us in this cup. I want all our energy on the league. Having said that we have an opportunity to nail our first win which will help the confidence.

Flying back from Madrid early on Tuesday and back to work on Wednesday. Don’t know if I can be bothered to head up to oxford for a fairly meaningless cup game.

Well done you can repeat the comment above you.

Fucking Sisu, not even playing for enough laces.

(I agree that's why I picked Hiwula, I think trying to fit Andreu in has disrupted a working system)
