Don't get this obsession with contracts.
If a player's out of contract he goes for nothing (I understand about Youth Tribunal compensation)
But a club will surely offer what they think he's worth ( what they can get away with) whether his contract has one or two years to run.

And if he's not prepared to sign a new contract when offered, he's obviously not that bothered about playing for us.

I remember someone mentioning this before on here but can't remember who and it was a good point.

They sold Maddison for pennies compared to what he eventually went for. What might be on our side this time is that the momentum of promotion may put SISU in a position where by they say, let's see what happens this season...If we go up to the Championship we can sell him from anything £5 million upwards to £20 million if he fulfils his promise compared to what we'll sell him for in league one which might be 2-3 million tops.

Think the contract discussion was because the person who started the rumor said they had a year left

Yeah but what you got to realise is, is when we sell a player it’s to line SISUs pockets and pay for lawyers etc.

Same with the Maddison money, some of our simpleton fans do not believe in the club having costs, and that all money should be sunk into transfer fees

Could it not be Burge that is going? Not really paid attention to the contract situation but when a player is injured on the opening game of the season it always makes me think twice.

Would it really hurt if Burge is off. He improved a lot last year but I still think we could be better off with a more experienced head.

Burge must stay at all costs, imagine going into the season with obrien as number 1. We need a new keeper badly.
